Guys,

I'm looking at the document checklist for FSW and I have most documents ready and can have the others ready (including ECA) in some weeks time.

However, the one thing that worries me is getting the reference letter on company letterhead for my work experience.

Now, I've only worked for one company all my life - for 4.5 years - and asking for such a reference letter would be a sure shot way to signal management of my intentions to emigrate (and hence leave the company). This could hurt my career, and there is every possibility that I would be refused the letter. I would be in a soup then.

What is my way out of this? Do I ask my ex-managers or ex-supervisors to sign affidavits on stamp papers?

And how do I provide my salary information? Pay slips?

How did you guys manage? Help!

This is a very common problem, I've seen dozens of questions like this.
Some tips:
- try to provide a certified true copy with translation of your current employment contract
- in some countries such contract (or its supplement or other official document) contains a list of your main duties, that would be also nice to have
- talk to your trusted colleagues and ask them to sign such reference even though they are not your direct supervisors or managers
- think of reasons other than immigration to answer your managers all their possible 'why' and 'what for' questions, that might be: short-term studying or training, loans and scholarships, temporary permits, guest visas, other countries embassies and consular, anything else, use your imagination
- to reflect your salary try payment slips or some kind of tax refunds and reports from trusted organization responsible for taxation

In my case I did the following: prepared and printed out the letter of reference and went to my manager and talked to him; i told him that yes I do have such intentions to TRY to move to some other country but, at first, the process is gonna take up to several years so there's no need to worry at this stage, and secondly, i can be rejected at any time. And he signed everything :)

Try to get the reference letter on company letterhead.
Talk to your HR department who issues letters.
Tell them you need roles and responsibilities letter which they usually provide to employees for H1B VISA.

They will ask for the work you do and your roles etc in company.
I first met the HR guy /sent him a mail mentioning the duties and he obliged.

Then he dropped the bomb when he added my manager for approval to issue such a letter and to verify the roles and responsibilities. I gave the explanation to my manager and he approved.

Mind you i am working for the same company for the last 7 years and my promotion is due this year. End of story i got the letter of company letterhead. As this is mandatory letter, better you get it on company letterhead.

Try to convince your HR/Manager and if you feel that it will impact your position/growth in team then well take the letter and change the team. This is what i am planning to do now :)

Also i attached appointment letter/pay slips/Hike letters over the years.

My 2 cents.
Hope it helps.

Well, I had tried for Australia PR and I have affidavits from my ex-manager and two ex-supervisors who signed on notarized stamp papers. These are from March 2014. I asked in one of my other threads and I was told I would be able to use these and send pay-slips for the last three months as salary proof.

Btw, all photocopies are to be attested, correct?

Thank you. This will be my last resort if reference letters from colleagues don't work.
