Provincial Nomination and Express Entry Question

Hello everyone, I hope someone can shed some light on my situation. I am currently in Canada on a work permit, landed last August 2014. I am waiting for my nomination letter from MPNP to arrive anytime this week so I can submit my PR application to CIC. I am thinking if I should go on with this application or would it be better for me to wait till January and just apply under express entry? Having provincial nomination I believe, will give me an automatic 600 points and will put me on on top of the rank to be invited to apply. Will it be worth it to just do it that way? I am under NOC8252, and my current job offer is for a permanent-full time position, but LMIA is only for two years, so really hoping to get this PR the soonest way!

Regarding the ECA report, is it mandatory? Can I proceed with the application without it? I don't mind not getting the points for it as I have job offer and provincial nomination. I just want to know if it is mandatory or if I can just skip it.

Thank so much in advance! Any input is welcome. :)

I think as long as you meet the requirements of one of the 3 Federal Programs then you can enter yourself into the EE Pool.

As for the ECA, I am sure the government would still request it. It is not about whether you choose to disclose it or not, more like to prove that you have the education needed to match with your job. To be honest, it really doesn't hurt to get it done sooner than later.

Thank you so much for your input, I appreciate it. I will look into doing the ECA then. I just got my Nomination certificate today, but will hold off submitting my application till January to see how the express entry will work. Thanks!

This is the question I have:- Can the nomination certificate be used to apply through both Express Entry and traditional route?

See, that's one thing I have been thinking over and over again.

From the EE Q&A posted on the CIC website it seems to imply that prospective candidates who are thinking of getting a PNP Nomination can either apply for a PNP Nomination first then enter themselves into the EE Pool (given if they qualify for one of the 3 Federal Programs), or they can create a EE Profile and Job Bank Profile to advertise themselves and the provincial government can pick them up.

With that said, it means that whoever has a PNP Nomination can enter themselves into the EE Pool given they meet the requirements for one of the 3 Federal programs, so I am assuming that I can still enter myself into the EE Pool since I already have a PNP Nomination. However, someone called to ask the same question and got a "no" answer. So that's where the dilemma comes from.

For me, I already submitted my PR Application to CIO back in September and am currently waiting for AOR. If I do not get AOR by early to mid January then I will create a EE Profile and give EE a try. I think it doesn't hurt for me to try, but I will have a harder time making the decision if I do receive an invitation.

I just noticed your timeline below your name and saw that you have already got your VISA and Landed in Canada back in August. Why would you still be applying for PR if you are already a Canadian PR? Or did you mean you got your Work Permit and arrived in Canada as a Temporary Worker in August? If so, just to clarify that Landed mean you are a landed immigrant = you have successfully obtained your PR Visa and officially landed in Canada to become a PR :)

I saw this article today, clarifies a lot of the confusion, at least for me.

Thanks for the link.

In the absence of a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment, PNP certificate holders on work permits based on their nomination may only apply for Permanent Residency through a non-Express Entry category.

So after all there is going to be a non-express entry category for PNP, after the nomination one can send a paper application...is this the way you guys understand?

Yes, it seems like you can still do "the paper route" with a PNP if you are not eligible for EE.

for EE, is CLB 7 also required for whom already got the nomination?
thanks.
