Hi All

Am hoping someone will give me the best and correct advice.

I came to Canada as a refugee in 2012 and for my hearing in 2013 which was accepted and i applied for my PR in 2013 and they started processing my PR in January 2014. I did my medicals in 2014 and background check was done too. But still No PR card.

Am emotionally devastated cause i miss my family so much i don't have a best friend in Canada so i work full time and and go to school full time too so basically i sleep 4 hours a day.

I called CIC last week and the agent told me that if i want to travel to see my family in a neighbouring country i can apply for a travel document and a protected person ID so i asked will i be allowed to board a plane back to Canada with this document and what the agent told me was scary, he said that its not always guarantee that one will be allowed back into Canada.

Can anyone please tell me what to do, i really want to go see my son and my brothers and sister in a neighbouring country. i want to do this the correct way cause the CIC agent was not helping.

and the link to the Travel document and protected person ID.

I miss my Son and sister and brother so much it hurt so much that i cry when i see people with their kids or family in the subway, am i save in Canada yes but it hurt so much that the whole immigration process is affecting me. I know CIC have a lot of application to process but atleast they should hurry in processing documents to single mother and single fathers. I am so sorry if i went over board a little but am very emotional typing this and my heart bleeds so much... I can't stop crying am so sad.

I am very sorry that you are going through this. I am also in similar situation like you. You can definitely apply for Travel document and can go to a neighboring country, obviously not to your country of citizenship.
Here is the link to apply for Refugee Travel Document:

Did CIC give you reason for not deciding on your case yet?

Hi WishuWerherehere

Thank you for responding, well they made a mistake with my medicals CIC did not upload them or something saying they wrote me a letter saying i did not do medicals and which i did and when they did an investigation they found out that i did my medicals. So am still waiting on the decision.

I left Canada three times with my travel document, and i had no problem returning. You will be fine as long as you don't visit your country, and make sure to not bring back with you anything related to your country, like currency, photos ,etc.....
not even in your laptop or phone, CBSA are allowed to search your personal items without permission .

I'v been to the states twice, and returning to Canada was so smooth, it didn't take 5 minutes at the border;however, when i visited Turkey , a country on border with my country, it was tougher at the Canadian border. They have searched everything you can name, but i was cool with that, because i haven't visited my country so there is nothing to worry about. They asked me too many questions that i can not remember now, i was honest with them and eventually the let me back in Canada.

Btw, the CBSA officers were nice, they asked for my permission to search my items, eventhough they can do that without it.
Just be cooperated, and honest, don't try to argue.

I will continue to use my travel document, eventhough i haven't received my PR yet.

I also traveled to a third country via Travel document and everything went well. No worries as long as you don't travel to your country of citizenship...
