I am both the sponsor for my wife and her authorized representative. Today, I received an e-mail from CIC requesting, among other things, the following:

"Documentary proof of your sponsor’s intent to re-establish in Canada. NOTE: If sponsor has returned to Canada, you may provide proof of his resettlement in Canada."

I sent in the whole application while we were living together in Japan, and included proof of intent to return to Canada (I sent a signed letter from my parents offering accommodation and support in Canada, the e-tickets and flight itinerary for my flight to Canada, and a detailed letter explaining everything that my wife and I worked out regarding this.) Now that I am actually in Canada, why would they be asking for this again? Was the stuff that I sent before not enough proof for them? I already changed my address with CIC while my sponsorship application was being processed in Canada. Now that everything has been sent to Manila, why would they request this stuff again?

Also, what sort of documents could I submit as proof of resettlement in Canada and that I am actually already here? I thought of my medical insurance card and bill for medical premiums. Both of these things have my name and address on them in Canada. Would that be good enough for proof? Is there anything else I could/should send? I don't have a job or car yet, so I don't have anything related to that in Canada to send.

Thanks for any help!

I think that since you told them you would come to Canada on a specific date (which has now passed, since you are already here) they just want to confirm that you kept your promise?

What I would do in your situation is including the boarding pass to show you did fly here, a letter from your parents that states you are living with them (if you have a landlord ask them to write you a letter), some bank transactions (maybe you using a debit card), any mail addressed to you showing your address in Canada.

Also, you could go to a notary and have them sign/stamp a letter in which you state soemthing like " I declare that I have moved back to Canada on such and such date..etc"
The commissioner would then write...."signed before me on this date in this city" on that declaration so it would prove you are physically in Canada.

Hope it helps!

Cheers!

I think is just to confirm.

My wife moved to Brazil for one year, they never ask it for her, and the reason I think is because she works and pays her bills, she lives on her apartement (without her parents). The principal, when she did the sponsorship she sent her rental agreement. Perhaps you need this document from your parents.
