Hi guys,

So I am applying for CEC with work experience from 2016/2017. I have asked my boss for my pay Stubbs as I lost the originals and the format he can provide them in just states my worked hours/dates and the pay I received. It does not have any tax deductions etc.

I have my T4 for 2016. I do not have my NOA as it is my first time filing taxes and its going to be too late by the time I receive it.

I can supply 1 or 2 of my latest pay stubs which does state all my tax deductions etc for 2017.

Will the T4 for 2016, pay stubs in the format my boss can supply and 1 recent pay stub with tax etc on it be enough?

This is what CIC demands:

"The following documents are mandatory for each work experience declared:
  • a reference or experience letter from the employer, which
    • should be an official document printed on company letterhead (must include the applicant’s name, the company’s contact information [address, telephone number and email address], and the name, title and signature of the immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company),
    • should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties and responsibilities, job status (if current job), dates worked for the company, number of work hours per week and annual salary plus benefits; and
  • if the applicant is self-employed, (...)
If the work experience is in Canada, proof may include copies of T4 tax information slips and notices of assessment issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (the time period for these documents should reflect the work experience timeframe [e.g., work experience from 2006 to 2008 requires only documents from those calendar years])."

So NOA is not mandatory, although it's a good additional proof to support your case. Have you done your tax return for 2016 or no? If you have done, you should already have the NOA for 2016, you can submit that in your package. Obviously, you can't get the T4 & NOA for 2017 until next year.

I guess if you don't have the NOA for 2016, you can still submit your application since it's not mandatory but get a second opinion, I'm hardly an expert.

Good luck

Paystubs are not mandatory. It is good to include a couple of recent ones, but the T4 covers all of 2016.

However, if you worked part-time or variable hours, it can be good to include paystubs and/or a record of hours worked.

LOL, when did you file your tax return? You should have your NOA by now.
