Hello,

We are planning to apply for Canadian PR via EE.

My work experience comes under NOC 2175 (Web Designers and Developers). I have 8+ years of work experience. First 2 years are corporate experience with a break of 1 year (maternity), after which I was partner with my husband in our own IT development and training company in Mumbai. Later from 2015, I started my own Sole Proprietor-ship and have been running it since.

This is what the CIC website asks for work experience of self-employed individuals: "if the applicant is self-employed, articles of incorporation or other evidence of business ownership, evidence of self-employment income and documentation from third-party individuals indicating the service provided along with payment details (self-declared main duties or affidavits are not acceptable proof of self-employed work experience)."

For articles of incorporation - I have Maharashtra Govt Professional Certificate and Tax returns. These 2 documents were enough for opening a current account in a bank.

For evidence of business ownership - I have the Bank account passbook that shows me as a proprietor and uses my personal PAN card number on the account

For evidence of self-employment income - I have the Bank account passbook again with incoming entries. Also, for some overseas payments I use my husband's Paypal account. Will that be admissible proof?

Documentation from 3rd party individuals - How many should suffice? I am planning to get 15+ clients to provide me letters with information such as work involved and payment information.

I would appreciate if someone can clarify the following:
1) Will receipt of payments through Paypal count as the Paypal account is in my Husband's name?
2) Will 15+ letters from clients be enough?
3) Will Professional Certificate of Maharashtra govt be enough as proof of article of incorporation?

4) Most important - How much income is enough? Last financial year, I had filed taxes for Rs 6 Lakhs (that is Rs 50,000 per month) and this year it is slated to be Rs 8-9 lakhs. Is this enough for immigration?

5) Any other information that you can share.

Thanks a ton in advance.

These above items are good enough for proving business ownership and payment info. You need to explain the incoming fund's into your husband's paypal a/c in a separate letter of explanation (LOE).

From what I understand, the income is not so much important as the amount of work you have done. specifically, the number of hours/months you have put in to gain your work experience, so if you are saying you have 2 years of experience, when you get proof from your clients, it should build the storyline that indeed you worked for two years on a fulltime basis in your NOC. The proof of their payments (incoming entries in bank statement) to you should match what they are saying in their letters of reference.

You can show as many or as few letters from clients, and 15 is a lot. but that's your choice. These letters should elaborate the timeline and support the fact that you have the experience that you are claiming points for 2 years/3 years, etc. So in these letters provided to you by the client, they should be similar to the NOC job duties and payment in your bank statements.

I wouldn't be concerned about the earnings of the company, Rs. 50k/month is good enough.

Appreciate your details response. Thanks! It helped clarify few things.

Just one question - Have you already got your ITA / PR?
