Don't send anything unless they request it. I only had letters and Canadian bank statements, they didn't ask for anything else from me.
I didn't even have that. I've been living in the US for nearly 15 years and have no Canadian bank accounts or financial ties there. I simply said in my application that my entire family (mother, daughter and sisters) live in Edmonton and that I want to come home, particularly since my mom is nearly 91 and I need to be near her. I did include a copy of a job application I had submitted but, needless to say, I didn't get the job.

I guess I will just wait and see. Maybe I sounded sufficiently plaintive in my application, lol.

Thanks!

echao,

I am also a Canadian married to a Japanese living in Fukuoka. My wife and I applied for her PR in October 2012. In May 2013, we got a letter from Manilla wanting more proof that I intend to move back to Canada after my Wife receives her PR. I had my parents, two cousins, a neighbor of my parents in Canada who I babysat for and a co-worker/friend write letters stating that we plan to move back ASAP. I also included my CIBC bank statement and e-mails between a travel agent asking for prices on flights back to Canada. We have not heard from Manilla again. However, my Wife and I have decided to move back to Canada next month.
Have you asked them about the status of your application?

The visa officer was not convinced. My wife did not have anything left in Canada as we we were living together for about 7 years in another country (before she left 2 weeks ago). In the application, we just furnished them an invitation from her sister that we will be staying in her place when we arrive. It could be our fault as well as we took it lightly as my wife didn't even bother to apply for a job there, but who would do when you really don't know when you're coming back as it is dependent on the approval of the permanent resident visa? How can you have a specific plan when you don't know the exact date?
It's kind of unfair don't you think? I'm really worried right now...

Yes, I made a MP request in August. My Mother got in contact with our MP and gave them my contact details. I was contacted by his office asking for my Wife's case file number. I gave them all relevant information and they contacted Manilla by e-mail. Once my MP got a reply back, they forwarded the e-mail to me. The e-mail stated, "The file is currently queued for review of submissions received pertaining to sponsor's intent to re-establish in Canada."

However, my Wife and I have decided to return to Canada and FINALLY prove to the VO our intentions to re-establish.

Hi guys,

This is the part of application I worried the most!!!

My husband and I are also living aboard and I will be the sponsor. In this part of intention, I attached some emails from the real estate agents in Canada to state that we intend to buy a house for settlement. and emails from friends that showing our returning plans. Other than that, I don't think there is anything I could prove, since I don't have any relatives in Canada, and My husband has a quite stable but lot of pressure job here. That's the main reason we want to move back to Canada.

Anyway, Good luck for all of you above, and hope you guys get the approval soon!!

So you will be waiting with your husband in his home country till he gets approved?

Very soon.
In our case, the sponsor (Canadian citizen) had been living outside of Canada for around 18 years. We included letters from family on both sides saying they knew of our intention to move to Canada, and a letter from someone offering accommodation until we got settled. We researched jobs, cost of rental properties, and cost of shipping possessions back, doing this on the internet over a period of several weeks. We printed a selection of the web pages because these showed we were researching our options over some time.
We had messages on our facebooks telling friends we were planning our move back - we printed those.
We also applied for a couple of jobs and printed the emails.
The other thing we did - a checklist for our move outlining all the steps we would take when it came time to move. This showed that we had discussed the return and been planning it together. Since it was something we wanted to do before we moved anyway it made sense to do it so it could be sent in with the application.

We also included a short letter saying why we were coming home and that we didn't have a date for our return because we intended to return as a family, so would not be returning until PR was granted. CIC didn't seem to have any problem with this.

They never questioned or doubted you at all? Did you include these documents initially when sending the whole package in?

Yes. We knew that we needed proof that we were going to return so we got everything together before we sent the application in.

Hi, I'm living in australia with my common law partner while we get our visa processed, Im Canadian and he's Irish, so we dont have any ties here, but we also dont have any plans for when we're back in canada either, we're getting ready to send in our forms soon, all i ahve as proof of intent to return is that our australian visas expire in jan 2015, that we have joint ownership of a car thats sittng at my parents in canada, canadian bank account, and my mom is writing me a letter that we'll be staying at my parents until we find somewhere to rent, I hope this enough, it's kind of impossible to look for rent/jobs as proof when im not coming back until january or until my partners PR s granted.

Hi

All I had was letters from family and friends, my Canadian bank account and my Canadian credit card. I explained that there was no way that I could commit to a lease/job/school until I knew my partner's visa was approved, as I wouldn't be returning to Canada if it wasn't approved. It was fine, CIC never asked for anything else.

that's good to hear, looking through the forum it seems like some people didnt have much and were fine, but others had lots and were asked for more, i guess it depends who you get? but i think our story is pretty clear and straightforward so hopefully its all fine :)

Yeah, a lot of it depends on the person, and the visa office, reviewing your file. I think my written explanation about my lack of "acceptable proof" helped. Besides talking about my inability to make commitments in Canada without knowing the outcome of my partner's app, I talked about how I had been out of Canada for years and missed my family, how I'd missed so much of my little cousins growing up, how my partner and I were ready to settle down and that I wanted my kids to be born in Canada with my family around me, how I wanted to return to university and couldn't afford tuition outside of Canada, etc. Basically, anything I could think of to convince this random person of my desire to go home :).

Hi, my I'm sponsoring my husband and we live in the UAE. I was just wondering whether the letters that were from your friends and family were written to you or to the visa officer? Were they just letters stating that they knew you were comming or were they letters written to you specifically telling you things like "can't wait 'till you come...etc."? Also, did you get any of the letters notarized?

Thanks
