I have received an update to my family sponsorship application that there is a concern that my wife will not return to live in Canada at the time that I become a permanent resident.
My situation is that my wife (sponsor) was born in Canada but left at the age of 4 and has since lived in Australia. I'm Australian. I'm wanting to receive my PR with as little disruption as possible. For me this would be to keep my job, house and our kids in school as long as possible before landing. The problem we are having is that the proof that is being requested is the purchase of a house or our kids enrollment in school which seems only an achievable option if we were already living in Canada

Does anyone have an idea how we can prove our intentions from abroad?

thanks

Have you started the process of looking for jobs in Canada? Can you show proof of any potential employers you have been in contact with regarding future jobs?

Have you engaged a real estate agent in Canada to begin the process of looking for a home and understanding the market and what your money will buy in that market? Any proof of these kinds of communications?

Have you contacted schools yet in the area where you plan to live to determine how to enroll your kids once you're here?

Anything like that?

Thanks Scylla. Yes I've done all of your suggestions and submitted them with my original application. I am guessing they feel that inquiries are not concrete enough. I can re-do them all but I'm just not sure that it will be enough

It's a little tricky isn't it. I felt this was the most difficult thing to do. My partner and I were also both living in Aus (I was born in Canada and left when I was 4 too). It's hard to know where your kids will go to school and applying for jobs potentially 12 months before you arrive is not something we choose to do. When did you apply? Are you being processed through Sydney or Ottawa? You could also provide correspondence with family and friends about moveing to Canada I too ofnwjat you already have.

Hi - is it 'Marvin' then???

I was in a not dissimilar situation to you. I left Canada with my parent for the UK when I was 9 and have lived in the UK since (I am now 60!).

I had the same question of course with the original submission. My 'proof' was

- a list of the number of times I had returned to Canada,
- letters from Canadian friends and relatives saying when I first spoke to them about returning and any knowledge they had of our plans
- I got a SIN number on my most recent trip
- Stating what forums I had joined, when I had joined, and giving example of my postings
- How intended to live (for me it is to retire, so included evidence of future retirement earnings)
- Letters from my financial adviser saying my financial aim was to return to Canada etc.
- Where I intended to live in Canada and why
- Email correspondence with a Canadian realtor
- Proof that my wife who I was sponsoring had been to Canada with me on recce trips
- Proof of a Canadian bank account I had opened and money I had already transferred
- Letters from UK friends saying that I had already told them of my plans to move to Canada

More besides.......

PS - My application sailed through Mississauga and London in 6 months beginning to end without a single query, so it can be done!
