I'm applying for a visitors visa for Canada - I'm travelling with my boyfriend to visit his family in Toronto for two weeks. I've gone through the online checklist and one of the documents I've been asked to produce is a "proof of relationship". However, although my boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years and live together I don't have any of the documents that are suggested (such as a joint bank account, etc.)
How important is this document? Would it be a mistake not to submit anything? And if so, would any of the following suffice:
- An affidavit stamped at a police station
- Consumer traces from commercial companies showing we live at the same address
- A letter from our landlord explaining that although the lease is in my name only we jointly pay the rent and proof of payments from each of us confirming this
Should I also submit proof of his relationship with his brother?
I otherwise have all the required documents - bank statement, payslips, employment letter, proof of previous trips out of the country, etc.
Any help you could offer would be much appreciated.
