I'm starting to compile the things my husband and I need for the evidence of relationship part of the application. I'm driving myself nuts to find old e-mails (which have since been automatically deleted), receipts from dates (which have been thrown out long before we knew we were getting married) and text message logs which point out the development of our feelings for each other.

Here's a summary of what I'm getting together:

* Photos from the civil ceremony and the dinner we had together afterwords with the few guests we had. (Taken by a guest)
* Our written vows.
* Boarding passes from trips.
* Receipts from trips.
* Photos of our trips.
* Messages sent from his family to me.
* Transfers of money.
* Proof of a joint bank account.
* A copy of the lease we both signed.
* Photos of him and I with his family/my family
* Letters from my family on their feelings towards my husband.
* Text message logs/facebook messages.
* Pictures of us with friends/mutual friends.

Is there anything else I should look to include? Also, some of the vacation pictures are not couple pictures, would it be alright to include these as well? We met in April 2012 and were married late December 2012. I want to show the VO why/how our relationship developed to marriage so quickly. I'm stressing out about this a lot, I think, so any answers would help.

Unless the pictures are one of you with the other's family, I wouldn't bother.

It sounds like you have plenty to me. My only advice is - If you're missing anything vital, such as phone records from an entire period or carrier, just write CIC a short note. As example - One of my previous cell phone companies refused to give me my records, so I don't have them. I just wrote CIC a note and included a copy of their refusal emails.

Sounds like you have a lot already. Unfortunately since you met, got married and are applying for immigration within a short time, some automatic red flags will be raised. So you just need to be thorough in your application.

Only other thing i would do would be to buy some term spousal life insurance with each other as 100% beneficiary. Shows you really share financial interest in each other.

Where is this done at? my wife just got a job but will quit the job in 6 months or so. Cause we might move out of Ontario, who knows yet. But is this done with work or private investors?

We were discussing which plans to go with recently. We would be deciding on one within the next month as we were already counting it as a step of sharing our lives together. Would this not also be a red flag if we'd only recently acquired life insurance before applying?

you can get a private one, no need to have it through work. Just google it and browse around for options, and find one that works for you. you can cancel it anytime if you don't want to keep it later on. Ask your bank as well, they might have something (most banks do), where you can buy a life insurance and declare your wife as the main beneficiary.

Since you got married in December, getting a life insurance in January seems a pretty swift move rather than the contrary! :) and also - it doesn't necessarily show when you got it - you can copy the page that names the beneficiary, and that should be enough.
Good luck,

As you said, its a perfectly natural step to take sometime shortly after getting married. Since most PR applications are also submitted shortly after getting married... it shouldn't be suspicious at all getting insurance before applying.

Plus all you need to do is print off the form that shows the insurance amount and beneficiary information. It shouldn't show the date you actually got insurance, and there's no reason you need to tell the VO. They will not go investigating into when you actually opened the policy!

I'd approve it just reading your post.... I mean the story is there... And a picture says a thousand words.. Haha
Often you can genuineness just by that. I think a lot of people over stress about this aspect... Remember that they can't out rite refuse you without giving you a chance to defend yourself.

Having said that, if your relationship is genuine, an interview is not such a bad thing, and in some cases can grant same day visa which would reduce tons of nail bites while not hearing anything.

From what I've read and seen... They're more concerned with sustained communication and such... So keep it all up and record everything while your waiting... Then if they ask... You have it.

Another quick example... Several interview stories I've read the vo doesn't even want to see their stuff they bring with them because they can tell by looking at your and your responses.

Cheers.... You'll be fine... Just send the app in!

I honestly didn't plan on doing this till age 45. I think it's a waste of money. I do have money SAVED up! I would leave that to her if anything. But this stuff is just kinda of a waste if you ask me. Do you think or believe we need it? I wonder how much this stuff costs.

It's not mandatory to have. However CIC definitely looks for both financial interest/co-dependency in couples, along with the emotional and relationship stuff. Its just a further proof you can include along with joint financial accounts.

In the Statutory Declaration of Common-Law (form IMM5409), 2 of the questions specifically ask if there is life insurance on each person. So obviously the CIC thinks it is an important factor in showing a relationship is genuine.

And if i was (hypothetically) in a fraudulent marriage for immigration purposes... i sure as hell would NOT want to have life insurance with someone as beneficiary i wasn't in a real relationship with!

Oh and you can get term spousal insurance for a basic amount for very cheap... like $10 per month depending on age/health/amount etc. Then when the immigration process is done... it can be cancelled if you didn't really want it.

Oh okay thank you. I really can't have a joint account with her while I am in Europe and she is in Canada. How much does this Special insurance cost? If it's like $50 a month k fine I'll get it but if it's like $200+ forget it.

Okay I see what you mean. I just don't want to blow like $200 each month for this, sounds like crap, how about a will? IF I die she gets all my money? :) I got a feeling CIC is working with insurance companies now. This is bull! What if you are from India or Paki country and this stuff is cost a lot? Okay I won't complain, first I'll see how much it will cost.

Yeah I know what you mean, but too me life insurance is a bit out of it. I got a lot of money saved up, I'd def write a will for that one! I don't think insurance companies would pay up even if I paid a monthly thingy. Too man those things are a scam, once my mom was married husband paid into it, and she never got a DIME out of it. Saying 1 payment was late or some crap.

Oh pftt $10 a month only??? That's it? K I'll get that then! lol. Should I get a $50 one not to look too cheap?

Where can I sign up for these things? I will plan on running my business from Canada and teaching the wifey how to use it and do everything so if anything should happen she'll have something forever + all my money + my laptop! :)

My husband and I went through all that torture and invasion. Very bizarre process. We both refused to undergo anymore. I am going to live in his country, India and real excited about it too. :D People do and can have good lives outside of Canada. I am lucky or smart I have tranferrable professions skills. Accountant and Bookkeeper. I can do this from anywhere and turning plans around to go there has expanded my whole world. Last winter in Canada. I will be back to visit now and again.Undergoing this process destroyed my life in Canada. I do have a great marriage and great hubby.The Canada Immigration process on marriage and family needs serious revamps. This is against fundamental human rights. Free country is Canada? Is it really? I wish you all the best. For me I am going to India to a wonderful man!

Wow this got me concerned... :(

I met my wife online in February 2011....we fell in love within months and met in person in June 2011 in Indonesia....and in August/September 2011 we began discussing marriage plans. I was in Indonesia again for almost 2 months at early 2012. And I came again to Indonsia in September 2012, and in October 2012 we finally got married. And now I've been in Indonesia for about 4 months...

Would it seem such a "short time" to the CIC? :(

We have a lot in common though....I'm only 2 years older than my wife, are of the same culture (my wife is Indonesian, and while I'm Canadian, I was born and raised in Indonesia, and became a naturalised Canadian citizen), we're both Catholics, same ancestries, similar interests, etc...

We're about to send our application.....the relationship proofs ALONE consist of close to 1000 pages, consisting of roughly 20 types of proofs (7 of which have to do with our communications history), plus 170 pictures (ranging from our very first meeting, to outings with our friends, families, relatives, our engagement, wedding, honeymoon, mini honeymoon, Christmas celebration with people from my wife's office, and a lot more...)

Would be disappointed to get any red flags, as our marriage is as genuine as it gets.......

Yeah even me and the wife said yesterday if it doesn't work out big deal we'll go live and stay in Luxembourg. I mean it's better here then there.
