Hello everyone,
I'm a Canadian citizen and I am putting together an outland application with my American wife. She has and will continue to live in the States until the application process is completed. I have and will continue to live in Canada.
In the new spousal application package on the new checklist in section 7 (Proof of Relationship to Sponsor), we have indicated we are not living together and we also did not say Yes to all of the 4 questions (first marriage for both, child together etc). We have been married at least 2 years, however.

which then leads to needing to provide more documentary proof:
provide wedding photos etc. No problem there.
provide 1 document from 3 of the sets of options.
This is where my question is.... so, if we're not living together, is "proof of joint utilities accounts" a valid option to use as one of the three?

I have also considered adding her name to the deed on my house but am hesitant without fully understanding the US tax implications for her. If anyone has gone through this and can provide specific advice, I'd like to hear.

Of the 6 options, 2 are pretty solid: She's recognized as a beneficiary through my employment benefits, and "Other proof your relationship is recognized by your friends and family". Just need to nail down the 3rd piece of evidence from this section.

And because we aren't living together we'll be doing the 10 pages of social media/emails/text msgs etc. and proof of sponsor's visits.

All sounds fine to me.

Probably overkill to make house joint ownership (I didn't with my wife, she had her old house in her name and my house was in my name - when we move to Canada and buy, it will of course be in both names).

I highly doubt you have anything at all to worry about, it is just a 'box ticking' exercise to supply the required documents!
