Soooooon!!!!! ☺
Hello!!
I am sending off my PR application in Tuesday. I am from Australia and have been living in Canada for 6 years on working holiday visas, my partner is a Canadian citizen and we have been together just over 5 years, living together since May 2011.
I am reading all these posts of people sending in thousands of pages of photos and proof of the relationship so it's making me worried that I don't have enough. I printed approx 170 pages of emails/ tickets of trips we've taken together/ phone bills/ joint bank accounts/ letters from family/ rental agreements with both our names etc and have got about 45 photos printed of us together over the years. We are 26 & 27yrs old so we don't have life insurance and all that other stuff in each other's names. My question is, will this be enough?? I hired a lawyer to help with my application so I don't know exactly how many pages long it is but I'm positive it's not in the high hundreds now I'm stressing it won't be enough!!! I don't know too much about the application process as I've got a lawyer so I don't really know how it works.
If anyone could shed some light on this it would be amazing!
Thanks :)

what you have is more than enough.

all those people that provide thousands of photos and buckets of proof are overdoing it, and i doubt the visa officer will ever look through all of the evidence they provide. why give the officers more things to pick holes in? if they need more proof, they'll ask you for it.

What is fine. From what I've gathered the people who send in the highest amounts of proofs have their applications processed in some of the toughest visa-offices.

What you have is more than enough, especially given that you're an Australian and have a strong relationship profile.

The people who send lots of proofs sometimes just have spouses from non visa exempt countries with high marriage fraud rates/processing times. My wife and I sent in massive amounts of relationship proofs, but that's only because her visa office has one of the highest refusal rates and one of the longest processing times, as well as having a notorious 24 month wait for an interview.

Wow that's a crazy long time. I'm applying Outland to Sydney, Australia but am currently in Canada on a valid work visa. Hope you didn't have to wait too long!!

Thank you all for your responses, I feel better now!

Just a note, but I'd say there is a good chance your application will actually be processed at the Ottawa office.

Yeah I was thinking that too after seeing some posts on here but my lawyer never mentioned that. Does it really matter where it's processed? My partner and I are going to Australia in May for three months - will this affect anything ? Thanks !

Well not sure how long you have on your work permit and if you're in a rush to get your PR done by the time it expires but Sydney is one of the quickest VO. Outside of the quickness of processing time not much difference, I guess if you somehow got called in for an interview it would be beneficial that its in Ottawa and not in Sydney since you're in Canada.

My entire packet was 111 pages. About 50 pics, a few emails to friends, copy of airline tickets, credit card charges, Facebook page showing got married and lots of comments and likes. The sponsor work supervisor letter mentioned attending our wedding. I live in the US because we each own a house so waiting for PR to sell mine and move. You two live in same house, that's a lot of proof right there. Try not to worry.

My work permit expires February 5th 2018 so I have a while. If it gets sent to Ottawa is it still considered an Outland application because I would like to be able to travel in that time!! That's why I did Outland rather than inland and I have a visa so I am able to work here even when it's an Outland application.

Thanks !

You'll be fine. I just dug up our application files to see how much we sent in. Almost all of our supplemental documents were related to IMM5490.

Question 9: 18 pages
Question 15: 6 pages
Question 18: 6 pages
Question 24: 26 pages
Question 25: 20 pages
Question 26: 37 pages

Total: 113 pages

I did them up as individual documents in MS Word and included the photos, scan of boarding passes, tickets, samples of emails and text messages, etc. so that caused them to be a little longer than if I sent those things as individual loose papers. The more extreme cases send in a lot more but I think for standard applications from visa-exempt countries it is not needed.

For my common law proof I sent in what I thought was enough, but not sure what CIC is looking for. I have been in Canada for almost 2 years. I was worried because I am not on the house or any of the house bills. I am on the bank account, his employee vision & dental coverage, credit card, cell phone and I sent copies of mail that was addressed to me. I sent in declarations from friends too.
The other day CPC-Ottawa requested the IMM 5409 Statutory Declaration of Common Law for my application that has been at Ottawa since Dec 16, 2015. So my guess would be that they didn't think I sent in enough proof. Again, I have no idea what they are looking for.

It sounds like you have some really good proof.

Best Wishes!!

Just be prepared, we are doing the same thing and we thought we had way more than enough but we got called for the interview, after receiving a letter saying we do not have enough proof. The threshold for evidence is much higher for common law than if you were married. It is much more difficult to establish common law than marriage.

The letter we received told us that we need to bring more evidence of our relationship, despite including large amounts with our application.

Will post results of the interview next wednesday.

This isn't true, common law and marriage are the same. Getting married doesn't mean that there is less burden of proof for the relationship. I understand that your in a tough position being called for an interview, but that doesn't mean that this is the case for all applicants.
