Hi all,

I'm getting ready to send in my outland application next week, and wanted to get some feedback on what I'm sending in as proof of my relationship with my husband (Canadian-born citizen):

1) Pictures of us together at various social events before we were married
2) Team roster of our intramural softball team
3) Copy of the Evite invitation to our engagement party
4) Copy of email sent by me to about 20 friends, announcing our engagement
5) Pictures of our wedding ceremony
6) Pictures of our wedding reception
7) Copy of the menu from the wedding caterer
8 ) Copy of the invoice from the chair cover rental company for the wedding reception
9) Extra wedding invitation (if I can find the box I stored them in...)
10) Pictures from our honeymoon
11) Joint bank statement from April 2010

Does this seem like it's enough? Too much? We've been living together in the USA since our wedding, so I don't have any phone bills or plane tickets to show that we've maintained contact. My name is not on our current lease. Do I need more to show that our relationship has been genuine since the wedding in 2008? If so, any ideas of what I can use?

Thanks for the feedback!

I only dated my spouse for one year before we got married, apart from what is listed, I sent emails and phone bills, the application got approved (CIC-M), and was sent to the local office for processing of her PR . So, as far as the first stage I think what you have will do the job. (Sorry I cant comment on the PR side since I dont know how my application will do)

A copy of your marriage license would prove the legal status of your relationship.

Definitely send all that stuff. The only thing I would say is that you probably don't need to send ALL the pictures from the wedding and honeymoon, just some representative ones. Maybe you've already done that.

The only thing I can think to add is some kind of evidence that you met before the engagement announcement. Any plane tickets, boarding passes, hotel receipts from travel? Anything that would give a date to those pictures. Maybe used tickets from one or more of the social events you mentioned?

Also, some evidence that you are living together after the wedding would be good. Maybe mail addressed to each of you or even both of you at the same address?

You just want them to know that your relationship developed over a period of time and didn't just appear out of the blue when you suddenly decided to get married, and that you indeed are living together as a married couple and not just pretending to live together after the wedding, for immigration purposes.

If you want, you can have family write statements saying that you have been living together since the wedding, if you don't think you have enough proof of that time period.

Definitely get proof that the two of you have been living together after the wedding. If you are not on the lease or the utilities, how about a notarized statement from the landlord that you live there? Affidavits or letters from friends and family that you live together and appear to be a happily married couple. Receipts and credit card statements showing you bought things for the household.
Everything else you have sounds great.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

Just to clarify-
1) Of course I'm sending my marriage license! It's required.
2) The softball team roster is an email printout, dated in 2007 (7 months before we got engaged)
3) I've selected wedding pictures that show us together, or with family members. Obviously I'm not going to send in all of my photos.

It'll be hard to show dates on anything before we got engaged, because we were both living in Chicago, and therefore didn't take any trips to see each other.

As for proof that we live together, I'll also print out our joint credit card statement, and send in mail addressed to each of us at our current address.

Thanks again!
