Hello Guys,

I recently received an ITA under CEC. While making my express profile, I answered the question, "Do you have any relatives in Canada?" as yes as I have an aunt in Canada. Now while uploading the documents I see a I need to upload documents for proof of relationship to my aunt.

On CIC's website, it says the purpose of this document is to do the following:

" Proof of relationship to a relative in Canada, status of a relative in Canada and residence status of a relative in Canada

Purpose: To validate a claim of, and award points associated with, having
  • a relative in Canada who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (for the Federal Skilled Worker Program adaptability points);
  • an adult brother or sister who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident residing in Canada (for additional CRS points). "

In the two bullet points above, I do not meet both the criteria as I did not claim any CRS Points for having an aunt in Canada as I got my ITA under Canadian Experience Class not FSWP.

So do I really need to upload any document regarding this? I have read in few of the threads that a lot applicants applying under CEC, just answers no to this questions as they do not require the points for having relatives in Canada. But the question is pretty straight forward, do you have a relative in Canada, wouldn't answering no to this question misrepresentation?

I have collected my aunt and my dad's passport as a proof of relationship and my aunt's PR card and Pay Stub to prove her residency.

The issue is that my dad 's passport spells my grandparent's name a bit differently from my aunt's. Is there any work around this?

Please advice! I would really appreciate it!

Answer in red + LOE.
I am just wondering wouldn't answering no to the question mean misrepresentation? I do have an aunt in Canada, I am just not claiming any points for her.

I am just a bit confused because one thing I was told by everyone is to answer every question as correctly as possible. The correct answer to this question is yes. Thanks a lot for the reply.

I was wondering if you can suggest what to write in LOE?

I've helped countless of people in this same situation so up to you if you still wish to answer "yes".

You'd say that you're a CEC applicant so no points under the six selection factors were claimed and you'd also explain the difficulty in obtaining the documents from your aunt to prove your relationship with her.

I answered this question yes during creating my profile. i.e pre ITA. Just to confirm I can go ahead and change the answer to no post ITA?

Thanks a lot for the help!
