Hi Everyone,

I will be writing an invitation letter for my boyfriend's TRV and the cic website said proof of relationship may be required. and gave the following examples:
However, I don't believe any of these would apply to us (to proof our relationship as we are not married nor do we have a common-law union), does this mean proof of relationship is not needed? or would a letter describing our relationship/and or pictures suffice?

I would really appreciate some feedback. I'm scared of not having enough proof so want to try and ensure I understand and have all the documents needed.

Caron :)

The invitation letter should suffice. Pictures are not required.

BTW, be sure he has a solid reason to go back to his home country. In your case CIC is more worried about him not leaving at the end of his stay than anything else. Be sure he provides solid evidence that indicates he will leave at the end of his stay.

Thanks for the advice, The only real solid reason he has to return to USA is that he is studying at college in Nebraska for the next 3 years on a student visa, do you believe this alone is enough to suffice? He doesn't own his home as he is on student accommodation/dorms and does not currently work due to studying full time and other college commitments. however, he does have family and a sponsor in USA that pays for his living costs i.e. rent and accommodation but his tuition was paid by his sport scholarship.

I am also worried about the refusal for previous travel history as before starting college in Nebraska this year he had not travelled outside his home country (Jamaica)

Agree with @Jalex23
Regarding the examples given if you have a relation with Canadian PR or Citizen.

An international student travelling should be able to travel. Be sure to provide evidence of enrollment, support, good grades and travel plans. Keep the visit down to 2 weeks.

Good luck.
