And also put on the application (where you mention how you kept contact) that it would not be environmentally responsible to kill trees to print hundreds and thousands of pages of chat records :P

Just my $0.02 8)

WOW! What a great thread!

I was wondering the same thing about this, because we can't get phone records to show what we did the last year prior to getting married.

But FB and Skype screen shots is a WONDERFUL idea!!

(CLAPPING)

You guys ROCK!
THANK YOU!!!!

OH! P.S....it's ok to "edit" out the info that's "private", right??? ;D

I had our documents check at Immigration Centre, and some advices given was.. DO NOT COPY AND PASTE as there is a tendency of us editing them. BETTER to just do SCREEN SHOTS. And it doesnt matter if the contention of the communication has like some fightings, romances and etc. IF you're in a relationship for let say 5-10 years, just pick some from each months atleast they will get to see that you have been really communicating for along time. :)

I left it in on purpose...figured I'd give 'em a thrill ;D

That is why its taking them forever to process our papers. theyre enjoying so much in reading our love stories, browsing our pictures and reading our communications with some "private matters" on it.. lol (thats a proof of relationship, wo who cares) ;D ;D ;D

I took screen shots of everything on facebook and twitter. But our instant message logs are way too long to take screen shots so I have no choice but to copy and paste unless I print the whole thing. And we're talking tens of thousands of logs here so theres no way I'm doing that. Hopefully that doesn't cause any problems.

As for the "personal" stuff, we're including some but not all. I think it would seem odd to not see any conversations like that between two people who have been dating for so long so it's just more realistic to include it in my opinion.

GOOD COW! Can someone walk this girl through how to screen print Skype IMs?? Is this how everyone is printing them?

& LOL @Blessedelaine!

Hello guys, with regards to the screen shots... I used my iphone.. screen shot all conversation, then connect your iphone to your PC/ laptop.. Open the pictures, and print the images using the PHOTO WIZARD, select the images for printing then you can choose the "wallet size" from the layout selection. :)

To me screenshot just means hitting the print screen button and pasting into a word doc. I suppose actually taking a pic of your screen works too!

Same for me. Except I popped them into photoshop and cropped off the extra stuff that I didn't need.

First of all, AWESOME THREAD. Many questions answered. Keep up the good work guys.

Secondly, if you are like me and text a lot with your spouse and have an android phone, heres an AWESOME app to convert your sms texts to actual text format which you can pull up on your pc then print. Also does .CSV, but i havent tried it yet. Has stamped times and everything. It's called "SMS to Text" (I can't post links), you can find it in Google Play.

Maybe someone would suggest against it, and would prefer to print screen on the phone and then print out the pictures. that just seems like a lot of work though.

Do you guys things this is sufficient or its better to print screen, and then print them as pictures?

Also I have sms texts from when I was back there with my spouse, so I had a different number. Can I use those too or no?

about those chat logs..

does it still need to be translated into english?
or just remain as it is?

Wow, good question.

I hope they can remain as they are. otherwise thats a lot of time spent translating, or maybe they require a certified translator.

The proof of relationship portion does not need to be translated

It doesnt need to be translated. What ever language you use it doesnt matter.
What they will look after if its you two who's communicating... and they are more concern on the dates of each communication.

I completely agree

To those of you who use Firefox, I highly recommend a plugin called Fireshot:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/fireshot/

With that plugin, you can take screenshot of an ENTIRE page (even the part that's hidden underneath, that can only be seen by scrolling down).

Another free tool that I've used heavily to gather screenshots of our communication activities (emails, Skype, MSN, and a lot more), is called MW Snap:
