Canadianwoman, looks like somebody activated an old thread. I started to reply as well until I noticed the date. Safe to assume darumal has submitted their evidence (translated or not) already since the question was posed in March 2009. ;)

Hi everyone,
I have some letters from 2-3 years back from my husband...and he has some too..
the thing is..most of the letters are in english but with a little hindi in casual language... do we need to translate those letters for those are being sent to new delhi?
should the originals be sent or are copies ok?
same with emails..we have tons of emails but some of them are written in casual hindi & english..so do we need to translate them as well ??:O

do a picture of gifts etc. count?

ps: letters/email also contain intimate/sexual material ..so i am kinda embarassed...should we submit those too?

You might attach a note with a translation of the Hindi bits. I suppose it depends partly on how much Hindi there is. Copies are definitely okay. I wouldn't send the originals because you may or may not get them back.

Definitely worth doing. Obviously, you're not going to send the actual gifts.

You can black out the embarrassing bits, but you'll haveto explain why you did that. I've heard of other people doing that. Maybe you should just leave them in though. I've heard that people get asked (especially in interviews in India) intimate/sexual questions in interviews, so it might be less embarrassing to just send them in the letters and emails that to asnwer those questions in person. Anyway, blacking out embarrassing bits might be appropriate.

ok, i think i will attach a translation of the hindi bits with a signed letter by me swearing that the translation is correct.
okay..i think we will just leave them as they are.. but i hope they don't harass my husband regarding that when he does go in for the interview?:(

Well, it seems that they sometimes ask for details: canadianwoman said: "The visa officer who interviewed my husband in Ghana also asked him questions about sex. She wanted to know all about the first time - where, when, how, who made the first move, etc." and boyee6576's husband was asked similar questions in India. (Read some of this: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/do-they-extend-medicals-t48104.0.html;msg365988#msg365988) I hope I'm not put in that position.

One other thing: I remember reading some advice here a number of days ago that including naked pictures might make it appear that you are too desperate to prove that a fake relationship is genuine. I suppose that "trying too hard" could come out badly, so you might want to consider that, but I think that some sexual content is to be expected in communications between lovers. Most of my written evidence is in the form of IM chats and I know that some of it is probably a bit too "racy". I'm planning on just sending extracts of the less "x-rated" stuff. My goal is certainly not to embarrass the IO either.

Well, some people do look down on it from a religious point of view, but from a legal point of view, I think it is an advantage because it shows that your relationship has been intimate for a longer period of time. I can't say how the officials in India may view it, but we are talking about Canadian law. I doubt that there would be anything bad about sex before marriage in the immigration context. It helps to support the fact that your marriage is indeed genuine.
