Good afternoon,

Can anybody help us with a particular section of the sponsorship questionnaire IMM 5540. They ask for proof of re-establishment in the country such as job letter, lease etc.. would a letter from a family member stating that we will be residing with them until we re-establish ourselves in Montreal be sufficient.

Thanks for the feedback, enjoy the Sunday !!!

Hi, as I was once told in this forum, you should write down a plan on how you want to live and work in Canada (in addition
to the letter of your family member).

Thanks for the reply, I was also wondering how many pictures would be appropriate to put in the application, we have about a dozen good picture we wanted to use, too much or too little. I read some people had a 100 in the application.

Give Thanks

You should provide more pictures taken in public at different locations. Try to avoid pictures taken indoors.

I wrote details of what we were planning to do when we arrived - staying with my sister until we found a property of our own, what websites we were looking for jobs on, how we were planning to support ourselves until a job was found etc.

I only sent about 30 photos, but they were from each vacation we had taken together, the 4 Christmas days we had spent together and then a couple during my pregnancy and a few after our twins were born. I went for photos that showed how long we'd been together, my hair style/colour/length changed, my weight gain during pregnancy and then the difference in our sons as they got bigger.

It was definitely quality not quantity in my application, I could have sent 100s of photos but I chose the ones that really proved our relationship

I personally think 100 is really a lot, We sent around 20.

We sent a grand total of 160 pictures. We could have sent less (or more), but since we've been living together since 2006, we felt that we should show more. We have travelled a lot together, so we included a whole bunch of our holiday photos. We included a lot of photos when my parents came to visit us in China. Quality over quantity...but we feel that the 160 pictures we submitted are all quality.

As for the proof to re-establish: we wrote out a 4-page document detailing all the things we need to do severe ties with China and all the things we will need to do when we arrive in Canada (we were quite detailed, outlining what we will do on day 1, 2, 3, etc.). I also included an employment offer and information about my status as a student at a Canadian university. My parents wrote a letter stating we can stay with them until we have found a place to stay. I included e-mails with realty companies and banks enquiring about mortgages. There shouldn't be any question about our intentions to move to Canada, but if there are, I will buy our plane tickets and prepare more information, though I doubt this will be necessary.

I think as long as you show you have a solid plan, that should be enough.

I provided;
1. Detailed plan when we land
2. Detailed plan of how we will wrap up things here
3. Proof of acceptance into a program at the UBC
4. Living arrangements in Canada
5. Emails proving I have been looking for work and corresponding with employers in Canada.
6. Letter from current employer stating they know I am leaving when the papers come through
7. Copy of my current lease agreement which ends soon

This satisfied the officer.

We sent in only 12 photos. A few from the wedding, and some random things here and there. Pic of us with her family.
Keep it simple. It works.
My wife's PR card arrived in four months from when I mailed the pack to Mississaga.
