Hello there,

Quebec Immigration is requesting from us to provide proof of payment of social security taxes. We originally provided W2's and Paystubs that were notarized by a public notary.

I do not know what else to provide them. Providing certified copies of federal income tax returns would cost $57 for each year. Is that what they want?

Any ideas, please?

Thank you very much in advance!

Please anyone?

My hubby went to the social security office and they can only provide summary statements of the income amounts reported to them. Would that suffice? I could also request the free transcripts from the irs.

We can't be the only ones in this scenario. Please help! Thank you.

Did you try getting notarized copies from any Bank? I believe big banks where you have account do it for free.

This is what I did when I sent my original application but they don't want that. Certified true copies have to be done by the issuing body of the documents. They refused all of our copies certified true copies by a notary public. Thanks, bongcan.

That's what I did. I sent a notarized copy of the summary statement provided by the SSA. Since my application just got accepted on Dec, 2012, I know that it went through the preliminary check but I can't tell you for sure if they will accept them.

Hi there, my application was also accepted in october 2012 so I don't think their first check is very though. I hope yours go smoothly! Thanks for the suggestion, I am going to do that. I am going to request a duplicate from the social security office this afternoon.

Hi FrenchieintheUSA,

I'm in the same boat right now and I was wondering what you ended up doing and whether it worked...
I had actually sent them the original of my W2 form (the one that you keep for your records) and they didn't accept it!

Any hints?
Thanks!

May be they want the social security statement from

http://www.ssa.gov/onlineservices/#a0=1

Just a guess from my side.

Hi Abraham66,

I ended up requesting and sending notarized copies of my tax returns from the IRS for the years requested, using Form 4506 I believe. They cost $50 for each year and took about 2-3 months to process. And make sure you check the box that asks if you want them notarized. They were accepted.

Another option may be the SS statement as per NeedAChange's suggestion above. However it didn't apply in my case as I don't pay or have access to SS (being a foreigner) and therefore that statement was blank for me.

Good luck!
