Hi

I need some input regarding this.

I'm a Canadian citizen applying to sponsor my wife. we didn't really get a chance to have a wedding because of financial issues. we did take pictures at a studio both of us. the only thing is she's not wearing a wedding dress is this going to be a problems for immigration.

most of my relations are living in Canada and my wife's parents and sisters are here so i was thinking of having the wedding once i get there in about a years time.what are the choices i have in this situation.

in form IMM 5490

they ask for Was there a formal ceremony to recognize/celebrate the Marriage?

what do i say here, because i think i need a good explanation for this.if not they might think otherwise right.
can someone shed some light on this please.

Thank you.

From what I understand from you saying that you didn't "have a wedding" you're not married, so you wouldn't really have a proof of marriage to show them, correct? Just to clarify things, since I might have misunderstood your situation, misrepresenting yourself on your application forms can get your application rejected and, I think, inadmissable to ever apply again.

that guy is write for my knowledge, hmm you must have a certificate of marriage. also they need shit lod of evidence, ok if you need for more success you must need wedding pic's. yeah remember you provide details true for them. if you say no you have to write them in details why? or write on extra sheet of paper good luck

Hint you can dress up you and your wife just go for studio and take come pic that may do it

Firstly, I'm going to assume that Stonecold39 was joking when he suggested to dress up in wedding clothes and get new pictures taken...

That's clearly not the solution.

Your initial statement is a little unclear, though. Did you get married and just not have a big wedding and reception or did you not get married at all? If you are legally married then there shouldn't be a problem, just explain why there was no reception, etc and provide as much detail as possible about ceremony (even if you were married at a court house or similar that is still your ceremony) and you must have had witnesses, right?

If you are applying as a spouse, you need to be married and you need to prove it, not only by providing pictures, but also a marriage certificate.

If you are not actually married, your other option would be to live together for at least a year on visitor visa's or similar and apply as common-law partners, but again you would need to prove this with official documents (lease/bank accounts/things addressed to you at the same house, etc).

There is the 'conjugal partner' option - I am not overly familiar with this one - but from what I understand it is reserved really for special circumstances and is a very difficult category to apply for.

Just make sure that you are completely honest with your application, only apply as a spouse if you ARE married and provide as much detail as possible.
Best of luck.

Right.. I had a city hall wedding and our parents did get to be there, but a lot of people have smaller civil weddings and larger celebrations later on when all the family can be there. There has to be a marriage certificate though, for it to be a true marriage recognized by Canada or whatever country you are in. If you did just have a civil ceremony that's fine, just show what pictures you have both of any kind of wedding you did have and throughout your relationship, as well as the marriage certificate.

From, the first post that gayan made, there is a marriage certificate in the country in which the marriage took place (four years ago), just no celebration.

Based on that you should be fine; include your reasons why and that you intend to have the celebration in the future perhaps when you renew your vows on your fifth or tenth anniversary (those are just ideas, but be honest).

Under no circumstances fake your photos. Any dishonestly is - rightfully so - grounds for inadmissibility. Conscious dishonestly will lead to a bar.

hi

Canadian citizen living out of the country for more than 3 years. Does the CIC require you to be in Canada once my application is approved in Canada. can i still be here when my wife is called in for a interview and go back when she receives her PR.

second question

Hi
my parents said that they will give me a letter saying that they will provide food and lodging until i settle down with my wife. for proof of where i will be staying once i get back to Canada

for job offer he said they want write a letter on a letter head but verbally they said they will keep the offer open for me and he gave me this letter for that.

I have been out of the country for the past 4 years since I got married to my wife.
as soon as my wife gets her immigration states, we will settle down with my parents in Brampton, Ontario.
I have a independent financial representative position awaiting my presence there at a co: by the name of Primarica financial services. I will be taking up the position as soon as I get to Canada which will help me to support my families expenses.

Please find attached sheet of undertaking from my father that he will be taking care of our basic needs till I sign up for the position.

is this good enough.
