Hi,

I will be sponsoring my spouse and I was reading through the guide. It mentions that I don't need to prove income if we don't have any children. However, on one of the forms, it asks for my income. Do I just write down my yearly earnings or should I still attach paystubs or a tax return?

Thank you.
Dida

Hello Dida,

Remember to read the Document Checklist form on the CIC website. On page 2, there is the section "Proof of Income For Sponsor". It's listed on there what are the documents you need to provide. Like what the previous post said, you need your Option C from CRA. On the Sponsorship Evaluation form, if you are employed, it will ask for your 12-month net income. The form also asks you to put in the start and end date on your own.

Yes, there is no minimum income required to sponsor your spouse, but immigration needs to know you have the ability to be the sponsor and provide for your spouse; and also where your money is coming from.

Best of luck.

My wife (the sponsor) is a homemaker. She is not working. I, the husband (who is being sponsored) will support us both. We both currently live in Pakistan and our 18 month son is already a Canadian Citizen.
Will my wife still need to proof income?

Hello Oak,

I appreciate your reply and it was very clear and detailed. I did find the section you mentioned in the checklist.

Thank you once again.

Dida.

No but i would supply an Option C printout from the Canada Revenue Agency.
