I have done a search about proof of funds on the site, but can't find anything in family sponsorship that is recent. What is the amount for proof of funds for myself, husband and 2 1/2 year old daughter?

Spouses and dependent children are exempt from low income cut-off (LICO) requirement.

I have no idea what that means!

What if I am in Greece with my husband and daughter and want to file from here? I don't have a job yet, so no funds! It's all a little confusing in the beginning so not sure what to do!

There is no requirement for a specific amount of income for a spouse and dependent child. You should show that your family can support itself without resorting to help from the government (welfare). You can show that with bank statements, showing you have savings, letters of support from family members saying they will let you stay with them until you get on your feet, or job offers for you or your husband.

Good luck! I know it's confusing in the beginning :)

Oh sorry. It means you don't need to prove you have a minimum level of income in order to sponsor your husband. Your child inherits Canadian citizenship through you (provided you were not also born abroad) so you don't need to sponsor her. Apply for her citizenship document instead, and get her a passport. Your local Canadian embassy should be equipped to assist you with that.

If you are a Canadian citizen, you may sponsor your husband and child while living anywhere. In as few words as possible:
1. You need to pay fees totaling $1040.00 Cdn.
2. You complete the relevant forms (Sponsoring your family outside Canada) at the cic.gc.ca website (complete and print, the forms do not allow for saving unless you have a version of Adobe or similar that does that).
3. You submit the forms along with proof of your husband's identity and civil status (birth and marriage certificates and copy of passport), proof of a medical performed by a Designated Medical Practitioner, and proof of his criminal records from every country he's spent 6 or more months since age 18.
4. Submit proof of the genuineness of your relationship (how you met, how it developed, how it has progressed to marriage and since).
5. As you are living abroad, you need to show proof of your intention to return to Canada when your husband gets his PR. Document the plans you have put in place to provide a roof over your heads and earn a living when you return. Most people provide letters from family members who have offered to put them up, provide a job, things like that.

Please note...this is the beginning of the proces IN BRIEF. There is more than that, and reading the first post in the first thread of this forum will give you an idea.

Fantastic!! THANK YOU! Your summary was very helpful!

I have read the first post as well - thankful for this forum!!! :)

I was born abroad in 1970 in Scotland. My parents and I went to Canada in 1972 and I became a Canadian Citizen in 1984. I have the Landing Papers and first passport, current passport, etc. The Canadian Embassy here in Greece tells me my daughter can still get her Citizenship because I am a Canadian Citizen. But I believe you are right - I will get her papers sorted first!

Thanks again!
