Hi,

As per IRCC, we need to show 6 months of bank statements as proof of funds but I heard from one of the attorney that if your bank can give you a letter that you have needed funds, then that is fine and you don't need to wait 6 months. Can some please confirm if I have to wait 6 months after I got the needed funds or can I get a bank letter stating that I have funds available now.

Thanks,
ksd

Strictly technically speaking, you don't need to show bank statements for the last 6 months. They're not a required document.
If you can submit bank letter with in it absolutely every detail required by IRCC, then no issues. That's the required document.

If one detail is missing (often it's the 6 months average balance), then it's strongly recommended to include bank statements for the last 6 months so that they can check for evidence of loans to meet POF threshold, which is a big no no. In that case, you'll have to wait (preferably), so that you can show balance over 6 months.
