Friends,

I have queries regarding the Proof of Fund requirement for Landing in Canada.

As per the CIC website update on 2016-01-12:

These funds could be in the form of:
- cash
- documents that show property or capital payable to you (such as stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills, etc.) or
- documents that guarantee payment of a set amount of money, which are payable to you (such as bankers’ drafts, cheques, travellers’ cheques or money orders).

I find it inconvenient to carry large amount of cash, hence, I would like to know if :

- Can I carry cash less than CAD 10000 or equivalent in USD currency.
- Will my Fixed Deposit Receipts meet the requirement for the balance amount for proof of fund. The Fixed Deposit receipts are in Indian rupees, which is more than the requirement for 4 family members.

Thanks
