Proof of funds...plz help

Hi everybody.
I need some information regarding proof of funds. we are in total 3 applicants including myself.so I need to show about 17,000 CAD. I have sufficient amount in my bank savings account but the money is in local currency. how can i show it as proof of funds in CAD?

Hi Romeo,

What stage are you at currently? Is it the application stage? if yes then you need to show original bank statement/s or cash Deposits (only short term) which should be liquid cash equivalent of 17000 CAD i.e. say 64000 SAR (safer limi; more the better)

If you are at the flying/landing stage then you should carry a Demand Draft of that amount or Cash-Canadian Dollars; these should be declared at the entry point.

Suggest, you fill up blanks of your status in the Profile section for knowlegeable forum members to give their advise/opinion. ;D

Savings in local currency is all right, no need to show CAD at application stage.

tell your bank to make the equivalent of that money to CAD. They know what would be the transaction rate of that day.

Local Currency savings are good enough. No need to show POF in CAD

CHC singapore wants the PoF amount to be shown in CAD. No matter what's the currency of the savings account, it has to be shown in CAD. CHC ND could be different in this matter.

Ya, a bit tensed nowadays with growing number of rejections for silly reasons. Getting Skilled based PR for IT professionals has never been so tough before as now. Just been reading 1-2 rejection cases from CHC ND, These reasons have never been looked at all by the Immig Officers in past but now you know.

Sent my full docs to CHC Singapore in May 2010 and received the 2nd AOR, if all goes well I will get my Medical in November or December. Shoch ra hu ke Winter ke Waqt aa jaayega . I hope you know Hindi if youre from Bombay !

What about your case? What is the time of getting medical from CHC ND nowadays? If youre married this will make some delay, moreover making some checks on your stay in the USA could also make some delay.

you know Ankit, what makes me amazed to see nowadays that , Immig Officers are saying that " I am not satisfied that you have worked as an IS Manager" . This is so frustrating. I am sure they are looking for more papers to prove the claim of an IS manager, usual papers provided to them as written on the visa office spec guide wont convince them alone.

Still on proof of fund, do I need to submit past deposit certificate ? I have past deposit certificate from 2005 till date.
Can I include them and the current deposit certificate.
Please I need your kind assistance in this area

If they have the Bank's seal and signature then no harm in sending them as well.

CHC singapore wants the PoF amount to be shown in CAD. No matter what's the currency of the savings account, it has to be shown in CAD. CHC ND could be different in this matter.

POF is required at 2 stages i.e.

1) Upon application, when you have to submit original bank Statement. Currency will not be relevant here, as long as the funds are equivalent to or little more than the requisite CAD (Canadian Dollars). The evidence may be sometimes required again by the CHC/VO later, wherein, the applicant has to prove that the POF has been earned or gotten from legitimate means and has been present for at least few months or since application. Also note, that the funds are to be in liquid form (Cash form e.g. deposits etc. that can be encashed immediately; land/property deeds will not work here as they usually take more time to get converted in CASH, not to talk about counter claims, if any, etc)

2) At the time of Landing, POF has to be in CAD and must be declared at the POE (Port of Entry).

Yeah I agree rejections are happening for small reasons and they are not giving a chance to address VO concerns these days. I too am waiting for Meds, ND CHC is taking about 5-6 months for meds so I am thinking I may get them in OCt/Nov. There are certain things which are beyond ones control and you can just sit baclk and Relax

ya, lots of things are not in our hands. Let the Winter begin in Indian Subcontinent In November/December. We might get good news from our postman on a cold day ! Lets hope for the best !
