"Do you have sufficient funds? The Government of Canada does not provide financial support to new skilled worker immigrants.

You must show that you have enough money to support yourself and your family members after you arrive in Canada. The money must be available to support the costs of living for yourself and your family. The amount is an estimate of what you would require to support yourself and your family without employment or other income. You cannot borrow this money from another person."

There have been many discussions about Proof of Funds on this Forum. Do a search and read some of the comments. VO can ask applicants to prove the funds are theirs and not borrowed. Having said that, I just realized the Guide specifies "you cannot borrow this money FROM ANOTHER PERSON". Would that also cover borrowing from a BANK? Hmmm??? Good Luck.

It really doesn't matter as long as you keep the required funds in the bank for all the time before visa is issued. If you dn't send few months old statement initally, visa officer normally asks for proof of funds again at the stage of passport request, and if statement at that time shows you had money in your bank for last 6-8 months just say, VO will not have any object.

Hope it helpsl

But don't forget, you also have to TAKE those funds to Canada with you and may have to show that you have them for your use at landing.

It depends:

1) If you applied (application received at CIO, Sydney by 25 June) before 26 June 2010, then you have to submit full docs. at your Visa Office after CIO Sydney sends you an AOR.

2) If you are planning to apply now (post 26 June 2010) then you need to send all docs. to CIO Sydney except Police Clearance Certificate/s.

PCC will be asked by the VO later if your app. is accepted for further processing by CIO. Even now applications will be processed at VO only & not CIO. CIO will just check for Ministerial Instructions compliance & completeness of the application.

VO will not ask for source, but they look for consistency that you have held the funds for long enough & will be expected to carry the same if & when you land in Canada.

Hi,

If you are going to submit initial application, then do not put all the funds together as VO will certainly 100% ask about where the come from. We have an example in the forum who did the same thing. He at the time of filing the application put money all of a sudden in FD and then VO objected him regarding this and his application was on the verge of refusal due to this. So be wise and tryto manage thisand if funds are not yours visa office may question this. So it is better deposit in small amounts, else be ready to explain this.

Secondly, with the initial application you need not to send bank statements as I know, dont know if it has changed, so you have 3-4 months before sending the full documents. Please take advise of others as well.

Check the Guides and your VO specific checklist for what documentary proof is required for Funds. Post 26/6 you do have to send your complete package to CIO (except most recently the PCC), so be sure you have included all information and backup documentation with your application. The whole point of carrying the funds to Canada is to support yourself and your family until you land a job as there is no economic safety net for the FSW1 class. Good Luck.
