Hi,

I am a Canadian Permanent Resident(PR) recently moved to Canada from USA . I am applying for spousal sponsorship for my wife in INDIA.

For the proof of funds, I still have my savings in USD in US bank account. Would it be ok to show US bank statements in USD to satisfy the criteria for supporting the sponsored person ?

I also have some savings in Indian currency in Indian bank accounts. Can I include those as well ?

Thanks,
Sai Chaitanya

Are you in Canada now? If not, you cannot sponsor her.

We were on the US when my husband sponsored me. We did shoe our savings in the US and his bank account in Canada though that letter one was more as a proof of his intent to return to Canada. (He's a citizen so it was fine to submit the application from outside Canada)

That is what i did. We sold our house in USA, and the proceeds were still in our US bank account. with exchange rate at the time it worked out to be something like 106k Canadian. so we used that to our advantage and compared it to the LICO threshhold, it would be like over 2 years of lico for 3 people. It was somethign my immigration consultant suggested. Any money from ANY accounts in any funds shows you can provide for yourself and your family.
