Marriage Certificate issued by Gujurat Municipal Corporations do not have Photographs.

I checked with others as well.

I think i will go for an additional affidavit as suggested by ppahuja......Frankly i am still confused in choosing which is the best option...

Thank you so much for your help :)

Hi

I am totally confused now...I do have an old account with my previous name but i will have to transfer the funds to it...So will they question the source??

Transfer funds from where? If its another account which doesn't bear your name, then it's a cause of concern. If it's a joint account, no need to transfer funds. Use that account for POF, no issues with that. A suggestion: exchange rates fluctuate on a daily basis, so its better to show more funds than CIC asks for

Photograph on Marriage certificate???
Doesn't your MC have a joint photo of you two? If no, then its kinda strange and in that case its better to go for the affidavits which has a joint photo and is attested in addition to the MC

Please clarify...thanks

PCC: After receiving ITA, you will have just 60 days to respond. PCC generally takes some time. So, its better to start gathering this document at least if you are confident about an ITA sometime soon. Use this link for PCC: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/india.asp . Ask any Ahmadabad police station on how to obtain a PCC.

I suggest you create EE profile with your old name only.

When you get an ITA or apply for any nomination from province, they see if you are holding the settlement funds since past 6 months. If yes, no source of funds are asked as they accept it to be your funds. If no, then they *may* ask from where you got that money ?. So people basically, supply all the info before hand itself so that CIC (or province) does not have to ask for that info.

If you transfer funds to the bank account with Pre-marriage name - yes you will have to show from where you got the money (for. eg salary income -> Joint A/c -> Pre-marriage name account). You just have to write a polite letter on a plain sheet of paper and sign it. This is called Letter of explanation (LoE). You also need to attach statements from Source and destination accounts to support your LoE.

If you are holding the funds in joint account since at least 3-4 months and lets say you get ITA in next 2 months, then u will have funds for 6 months and you need not show source of those funds. But in this case you will have to show to the VO that joint holder on that account is you only (because of your post marriage name on joint a/c)

Lastly, if you stayed in any country beyond 6months, you would need PCC for that but that's another story. For now just setup your EE profile.

Hope it helps

I haven't received an ITA yet as i am registering for EE...We need to get PCC after ITA right ?I am in Ahmedabad but i am not a domicile of this state...does it matter??
Apply for PCC only after you receive ITA. It is best to obtain the PCC from PSK in your city which takes only a week or two or even less.
