We are a family of 4 but initially I will be traveling alone to Canada. What would be the proof of funds that I need to show. Is it for one person or for four of us?

Number of
Family Members Funds Required
(in Canadian dollars)
1 $11,115
2 $13,837
3 $17,011
4 $20,654
5 $23,425
6 $26,419
7 or more $29,414

principle applicant has to land first with the whole POF amount. the rest of the family entering later need not to show POF.

What are the chances of CIC to check the POF or ask for Bank Statement, after they have issued the Medical request & RPRF ?

if there's even 1% chance, would u take it for the sake of Canada?
the chance is very little as well as rare, but the thing is there is a chance.

If you have the funds, why worry about it? :)

Realistically it is unlikely they will ask to see POF again once you're at the medical request / RPRF stage, until you land. However, they can technically ask to see these at any time before they make their decision, so it is best to keep these always available. If you do have to dip into the savings, still keep the majority available and make sure any shortfall can be replaced and explained if needed.

Visit www.cic.gc.ca to get the current requirements.

Yes, for all Federal Skilled Worker applicants, language test results must be submitted with the initial application, for either English or French (you can submit both for extra points as a second language).

You need to score 67 points on their points matrix, and other than that there is no general language or education minimums, however certain specific occupations do require a level of certification, and some will need a minimum language proficiency.

Please note it is likely to take several months for you to gather the level of supporting documentation required, and it is highly anticipated that a completely new set of rules will be published towards the end of June.

Therefore you might be best to sit back and wait for the new rules. Since booking and taking the IELTS test and waiting for the results is often the longest waiting period before applying, you might be advised to book your IELTS test as soon as possible. The results can be used for up to 2 years, so you can take the test now and then use the results when you're ready to apply.

I think visa offices will be asking for more and more bank statement to back up anyone who has only sent a bank certificate.

I know of at least 4 or 5 users on here who have admitted to borrowing the money and submitting only a bank certificate with balance to conceal the borrowed funds from CIC.

These are people who will arrive in Canada with large debts and will probably be draining from the welfare system before they know it. Not fair on Canadians. Not fair on honest applicants. Not fair on them to be honest!

Personally, I don't see why CIC don't just ask for 12 months bank statements up front with the application, and just return any that fail to provide 12 months trace on their funding.

But back to the point - as Pippin says you have nothing to fear if the money is genuinely yours, just provide 12 months statements if asked, and any large deposits from property or asset sale, just provide receipts.

Very impressive and truthful...............+1 Sir

hi cappuccino,
thanks for the reply and ur advise will assist me as i expecting.
once again thank u very much.

Hello Trick,

I am unable to PM you.I am not yet eligible I suppose ;)

Yes,my VO asked me POF for second time as my initial POF was slightly less with (400 CAD) due to exchange rate. However,by the time they requested me for second POF, I had already saved nearly 1000+ CAD extra to the actual required POF ($13,837) for two persons which is around 15K CAD.

here you go, these are the exact words by the VO (rcvd by my law firm on my behalf):

request that the following information be provided to the Immigration Section of the Canadian Embassy in **** within 60 days:

* Updated proof of available and transferable settlement funds (for 2 applicants, the minimum requirement is C$13,837

They never asked for any bank statements as seen above.I have actually submitted FD of a different bank the second time.so relax.
I was asked to submit my POF for the second time before my Meds.
coming to my appln status,I am done with my Meds ,PPR too & waiting for my visa:)
don't worry and submit the POF within the given time.
All the best.

@Mute_Man et all members

better late than never ,Thank you very much for your reply.
