Depending on what options are available in your home country you can carry a mix of Cash/Travellers cheques/Draft cheque/Prepaid Credit Card. If you have accompanying family members, it may help if you split the cash amounts with your spouse so that each carries the max. allowed limit.

Alternatively, you can carry the max amount allowed by your country and have proof that the rest of the amount is available in your bank account ready to be wired to Canada once you open a bank account (i.e. a recent bank letter/bank statement showing the amount of money in your account).. i would consider the bank letter/bank statement the last option though, as it may involve some risk - many experts in this forum do not recommend it, however there were a number of forum members who posted that that they used it as POF during landing and it worked without issues.
