Hi everybody. So I am taking 2-year program at Seneca. I am going to include my wife in my application as dependent. I have a bank account with around 35 thousand US dollars on it. Is it enough for immigration to issue both of us our permits? The thing is my wife has her own bank account as well but should we show it? Can it decrease or increase her chances for a spousal work permit? Cuz the term dependent confuses me a lot. Financially dependent? In reality she is not financially dependent but we are still married and live together. So help me out and please tell me if we should show her balance to immigration as well. Thanks.

According to CIC web:
Family members include a spouse, a common-law partner, dependent children, and the dependent child of a dependent child.

Spouse: Refers to either of the two persons (opposite or same sex) in a legally-recognized marriage.

The point is that wife/ life partner is not defined as dependent. Your children are dependent.

For you and your accompanying spouse you need to have a minimum of 1st year tuition fee + 1000 CAD (12 months expenses for you) + 4000 CAD (12 month expenses of spouse) + 3000 (Travel and others). So the money in your bank account is enough.

However, if you show the account statement of your wife, I guess it won't be a negative thing.
