If an individual is invited to apply under the FSW program, is it correct that they must prove that they have over $12,000 in funds EVEN IF THEY ARE ALREADY LIVING IN CANADA but not working in a job supported by an LMIA?

Thanks for your replies

True. Unless the work permit is supported by LMIA, the minimum proof of funds is mandatory.

Ok thank you Intocanada. Do they ask for proof of funds in the personalized checklist for FSW applicants?

Yes. It is called "Means of Financial support" where you have to upload the supporting documents.

The amount of money you need to support your family is set by the size of your family. We update these amounts every year.

Number of
Family Members Funds Required
(in Canadian dollars)
1 $11,931
2 $14,853
3 $18,260
4 $22,170
5 $25,145
6 $28,359
7 or more $31,574

You do not have to show that you have these funds if:

you have a valid offer of arranged employment in Canada AND
you are currently working or authorized to work in Canada.

Yes I think that's the case, because I'm working in Canada (LMIA exempt job), I was invited under FSW, and in my document checklist I have PoF - I assume this is because PoF is mandatory for FSW.
It should still matter that you're employed in Canada since your salary is a means of financial support. Of course this also depends on the officer's discretion who is assigned to your file....

I am able to manage an end of statement of 12k.. but to show 6 months avg. I am going to need hundred thousand in my account for next 20 days.

As per CIC:
The letter(s) must be printed on the letterhead of the financial institution and must include the applicant’s name, the contact information of the financial institution (address, telephone number and email address), the account numbers, the date each account was opened and the current balance of each account as well as the average balance in the past six months.

What shud I do?
