My bank statement proves that I have the required funds as a FSW trying to apply for EE. A good portion of the required funds were recently (a month ago) deposited through an international wire transfer from a family member, and the transaction activity prior to that was not quite significant. Does that make my proof of funds not eligible? How does CIC determine whether that was a loan, give-back, business or other?

That will be a problem. In the absence of any explanation, IRCC will presume that this was a loan.

What if it was a gift from my parent, and he's not asking for a give-back. Would that solve the problem? and if so what's the formal procedure to prove it?

That would solve the problem. Search the forum for a thread which answers this question in great detail.
