Proof of Funds - CEC

Now I've been reading around and I know that y'all said PoF is not necessary for CEC. But I got my ITA a week ago and I'm collecting my documents right now and my e-APR form says Proof of Funds in required.

In my EE profile I put $10,000 for the question "How much money you will bring into Canada", which is the amount I have in savings. I understand that the $10,000 doesn't fulfill the minimum funds required for FSW class, which is why I was invited under CEC. So, because I put $10,000 does this mean that I have to provide PoF letter from my bank to prove that I have $10,000 in my accounts combined? Do I go to my bank and ask for one?

Yes you need an account balance statement from your bank which shows total assets of $10000 or more.

For CEC this amount does not need to meet the LICO requirement.
You will be eligible even if you would've entered 0 or $3000 or $5000 or whatever amount.

Awesome. Thanks so much. Will I need to get my balance in the past 6 months? My family transferred the money earlier this year as a gift, will I also need to get a letter from my family stating that it was a gift?

No in your case you do not need to provide such robust evidence. 1 bank statement showing current balance should suffice.

You do not need to get a bank statement at all because you are a CEC applicant.

You can either go back to the questionnaire and type in "0" under proof of funds (then the upload request will disappear), or upload a letter in lieu of the bank statement that explains you are a CEC applicant and don't need to provide proof of funds.

This is the precisely correct answer +1, although upon landing, CBSA might ask for a number to put in the form. You can say 0 or you could say any thing. The point is that you are not required to show funds since you are CEC.

Also in case some one has an LMIA job in Canada, they can put their annual salary too in lieu of POF - only when it is required.

Yes, you can say you used that money for something and as you're CEC so you're exempted from POF
