Hi All,

I am Applying for PR with my wife. Although I am the principal applicant.
We have been saving money for immigration in her account all this while. So I plan to show
her account with maximum chunk of money.

Is that advisable..? or the money should be in principal applicants account..?

How about a joint account ?

Also is it advisable to show money in multiple accounts of me and my wife..?

Thanks in advance !

Hello, I don't know for PR, but I got my application for opnp returned to me because the bank statement was on my husband name. when I emaied them to ask about a joint account they said it's ok but your name must appear on the statement.

Thanks Nasnas.

I will try to move the money from my wifes account to my account.
My concern in this case is whether they will ask about this sudden in-flow of money ?

Since my wife is also a part of the application, wouldnt some money in her account be accepted as a proof of funds..?

Money should be in account in your name.
If your wife is also applying, then your name should be in joint account with your wife.
No alternate way.

I beg to disagree. As long as the wife is an accompanying spouse, it shouldn't be a problem

The funds can't be in the wife's name if the husband is the principal applicant.

Try getting yourself added to their account, that would work as well. In that case, you'll have to provide a signed self declaration from your spouse that they have no reservations against you utilizing monies from this joint account towards POF purposes.

Failing that, get the money transferred to your account and submit a signed self declaration from your spouse that this transfer is a gift not a loan hence need not be returned to them at any point in time. Along with this, sbmit the bank letter with all details required by CIC and proof of funds transfer from their account to your account. Add a short note explaining the entire transaction and that's it.

All the best!

Thanks all the senior members,

Here's what I will do.

1) Over this and next month I will transfer money from her account to My account in smaller chunks.
2) We also have a joint account. I will transfer some money from her account to that joint account also.
3) When showing POF, I will show my account and the joint account as proof.
4) Also get a signed declaration from my wife that she has no qualms about using money from her joint account.
and any transfers from her account to mine are a gift and not to be returned to her again.

Thanks again guys...much appreciated.

2 recommendations.

1. Try and submit just 1 account - its easier on both you and the officer. It doesn't matter if this is the joint account or your account. To do this, ensure that you transfer the monies to either the joint account or your account instead of distributing the funds across 2 accounts.

2. It doesn't matter if the 'gift' transfer was credited in 1 large transaction or multiple smaller transactions over a period of time. What matters is that you can prove that these funds belong to you exclusively and that none of it is borrowed.

All the best!
