Yes,you need to show proof of funds,how much depends upon your country of origin as well.If you don't provide Bank Statements and Bank Balance Certificate than your application will be weak and will more likely be rejected depending upon your country of residence. Providing all documents and more will make your application strong and increase your chances of getting work permit.
So its safer to include the Bank Statements and Bank Balance certificate. But myself, having gone through the AIPP, only showed proof of funds for a sum of CAD 3075 only as per requirement. After all, low skilled jobs like mine are best suited for this program coz you do not need a lot of paperwork as long as you have provincial endorsement and offer of employment
