Hi everyone

i am travelling to canada in the 1st week of May, kindly advise me the following

- How much cash a person can carry
- Can we carry a remaining amount in Cash Card with the receipt of currency uploaded in the card or we have to take the travellers cheques only

Looking forward for quick advise.

You can carry as much as you like, but you have to DECLARE if you have more than $10'000 in cash. What you have on your cash card will not be of interest.

As I read correctly, you are traveling to Canada, not immigrating. That would be different.

Hi

I am going for the first time (Landing) as a Permanent Resident, as per the landing procedure, i have show the proof of funds i am carrying along with me as per the minimum amount. Yes, but you can't use the Cash card as proof of funds, CBSA has no way of determining how much it is worth.

Thanks for your reply --

in this case we have left with only 2 options
1. Cash
2. Travellers Cheques

Do let me know the best way to carry the funds at the time of landing

When I came here, I only had a bank statement with me, a couple of debit and credit cards. The CBSA agent did NOT ask me for any proof.

still - i would like to know --- if we can use the Travel Cash Cards as proof of funds

kindly advise ASAP

If you are required to provide proof of funds, you cannot use a Travel Cash Card. There is NO way for the officer to verify the balance on such a card, so they are not acceptable proof that you have sufficient funds to support yourself as required.
