Hi. I'm trying to apply for student visa online and I'm pretty stumped right now.
1. My father has a bank deposit of about 200 000 CAD which is meant to be for my 4 years in Canada, of course, he will also write a letter to proof that he's sponsoring me. Is this enough to proof that I've enough money for my stay??

2. The deposit is in my country currency, is it okay?

3. Alongside, I will also show my father's bank statement. However, the statement is in my country's language. Do I need to translate ALL of them? It is pretty thick (18 pages), so it might be expensive to translate and notarize them. Again, it is in my country's currency. Is it okay?

Please HELP!!!!

1. $200,000 is a huge amount actually, you only need to show at least tuition fee for 1st year + 10,000 living expenses however some say the more the better & some say other way around.

2. Local currency should be fine but convert it to CAD in the application forms.

3. YES, all documents should be translated.

Good luck.

Which part of application form?
I've written 180k CAD in the available fund space of IMM1294E, that is the only part about funds so far. I've also written the tuition fee as 80k (approximately 20k a year) and 30k for housing as well as 20k for others. Is it alright?

Can I just translate the first page of each month of bank statement (containing summary of balance) because it is going to cost like 500 dollars if I translate the whole thing... if I use agent it only cost a total of 500 USD, I thought it doesnt make sense that translating alone cost more than using an agent...

Yes that's it. So you presented all the funds for your entire study of 4 years but again you are only required to show 1st year of tuition & 1st year of living expenses.

I think translating the summary page of the bank statement will do but I'm not 100% sure.

I just came back from the bank and they refused to issue the bank statement in english. However, they agreed to write a letter to show my bank final balance. Can I just present this alongside with the bank deposit??

I'm so sorry but I can't give you a good answer on that. Hope others here can help.

Any advice, people!?

The only documents I have with me right now are:
1. something about approval to start an entrepeneurship/shop thing (my father said it might be useful, it's under his name and is already translated)
2. tax payment thingy (under my father as well, translated)
3. bank deposit of 200 000 CAD (this is the one he's going to use for my degree)
4. letter from bank showing the money I have in the bank right now (under his name too and it's about 40000 CAD)

I couldn't get the bank statement in english so I am thinking not to show it at all, or just translate the summary of every months. summary only shows the initial amount and final amount each month.

What do you think?

Dear Friend,

First question which country are you applying from.
Secondly getting an educational loan is a better option rather then showing personal finance.

The amount your father has kept aside, is it in Canadian dollars, if yes that is a huge amount. I would suggest use that amount as a collateral for a bank loan(the most secure financial document in the world). The Documents in this scenario would be automatically in English. So no translation needed.

If you have applied already just hang in there tight, you will get the Visa. If not try to follow my advice to increase your chances.

Hey, I'm from Indonesia and there's almost no chance of getting an educational loan here. My only question now is can I don't show the bank statement because it is not in english? Instead, my bank offered to write a letter stating the amount of money I have in my bank. Would that suffice??

verify ko lang regarding sa pag fill up ng form about Proof of funds, do i need to fill up sa form kung mgkanu entirely yung tuition fee as indicated sa LOA or ok na yung 1 yr lang n tuition? THanks

I would suggest submit both bank letter and statement.
There are many companies that offer translation services. Just ask them to translate the whole document for you.

According to CIC website http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5269ETOC.asp

"Translation of documents

Unless instructed otherwise by a CIC employee, all supporting documentation must be:

in English or French; or
If it is not in English or French, it must be accompanied by:

the English or French translation; and
an affidavit from the person who completed the translation; and
a certified photocopy of the original document."
