Hello all.

My wife, daughter and I plan to apply for a visit visa (TRV) so our daughter can attend a 2 week program at UBC over the summer. I am the breadwinner of the family, however our savings and running expenses are all under my wife's account. So, even though my account is where my salary is credited every month - the running balance is low as we transfer almost all funds to my wife's account on a monthly basis. Will presenting my wife's account (which has a healthy running balance) along with mine affect our chances for obtaining the visa (TRV)?

All three of you are coming so that your daughter can attend a two-week course? How old is she?

Do you have strong ties to your home country? Have you traveled to other countries (US, Schengen, Aus/NZ) in the past few years?

Presenting your wife's account isn't an issue per se, but the rest of your application needs to be a strong one to get a visa. The purpose of the visit seems weak.

In all likelihood one of us will accompany our daughter but we are not yet certain if it will be me or my wife. It might be all 3 of us and me and the wife would make a vacation out of it while our daughter is attending this program. She's 16. Yes we've been to Europe before. Ties are very strong where we live (Sultanate of Oman), I have a well paying job and own property here. But it's good to know that presenting the wife's account is not an issue. Thanks for the reply.

Hi. You may include your wife's bank statement (if in case you will be the applicant). Just mention in a letter that you include her proof of income as she will share the expenses of the trip. Also, you may request for bank statement right after you got your salary to show substantial balance. Although I'm not sure if this makes any difference but that's what I did as I don't have enough running balance as well.
