Proof of family member status

Hi all,

I have family members in Canada. I do not need the additional FSW points, but in order to be truthful in my EE application, I stated that I do have canadian relatives. I am now being asked to upload documents that prove my relationship to them.

I have two questions :

1/ The documents page says I need to upload only a relative's passport. However, since the relative is a maternal uncle, we do not even share a surname, so I am not sure how this constitutes proof. Also, I found another CIC page with contradictory information, saying that I need other documentation (proof of address, etc). Can anyone confirm if the passport alone is sufficient?

2/ Since I do not need the FSW points, (I have about 90, I don't need the additional 3 for my relatives!), do I still need to provide proof?

My current plan is to upload just the passport, and include a section in my LOE explaining that I did so for the sake of completeness, although I do not intend to claim FSW points for the relationship. Can anyone with experience say whether this is likely to be acceptable?

Thanks,
Simon

Come to think of it, should I simply remove the claim of a canadian relative from my application?

Would this be misrepresentation?
