I am a visitor to canada and my visa and passort will expires around 2020.

On my visitor record issued on Dec 2012, the following conditions are listed:
1 Prohibited from engaging in employment in Canada
2 Prohibited from attending any educational institution and taking any academic, professional or vocational training course
3 Must leave Canada by 28 Feb 2013
4 Must furnish proof of compliance on 28 FEB 2013 at Vancouver IA.

The first 3 conditions are very easy to understand. But we could not understand the 4th condition"Must furnish proof of compliance on 28 FEB 2013 at Vancouver IA"

Q 1 What am I required to do about the 4th condition? Must I show up at Vancouver IA and leave Canada on the day of 28 FEB 2013?Leaving later or earlier is prohibited?
Q 2 Could I apply for extension of visitor or open work permit with the 4th condition?
Q 3 If I apply for extension of visitor or open work permit and I do not get your result before 28 Feb 2013, should I appear at Vancouver IA on 28 FEB 2013?

Thank you for any information about this

1. You have to turn in your visitor permit at VIA to CBSA on the date you leave Canada.
2. You could apply for an extension, but with that notation on your permit, I would hold out much hope.

HI PMM,

Thanks. If I apply for the open work permit. Could I stay here on implied status waiting for CIC decision?

HI PMM,

My husband is a full-time PhD student. Now I am very worried about this condition. Whether I could apply for open work permit and stay at Canada waiting for CIC decision about my open work permit application on implied status with this condition.

Thanks.

I would not worry about the 4th condition, for it could be a standard comment included on visitor records, similar to comments on study/work permits like, "This does not authorize entry", "must leave Canada by blah blah blah", etc.

If you apply for a work permit before 28Feb2013, you can stay in Canada until a decision is made on your application. However, if you don't apply to extend your stay, then you must return the visitor record to CBSA no later than 28Feb2013.

If If it still makes you nervous, you can contact the CIC call centre for more information and request that they forward the information to your email and they will.

Lastly, visa-exempt applicants are eligible to apply for work permits at the border or you may apply online if you prefer.

HI,

Mangy thanks for your reply and information. Also the work permit application has been submitted.

I did call CIC call center two times. One agent said nothing should be before the decision is made. Another agent said the copies of the work permit application should be showed to the CBSA before Feb 28.

I checked my friend's study permit. The conditions are almost same but the 4th.

It does not hurt to show the work permit application to CBSA before Feb 28th(better to be safe than sorry, right?).

Visa-exempt applicants are those who do not need a temporary resident visa(TRV) to enter Canada e.g. US, UK citizens, etc and yourself(since you were issued a visitor record instead of a TRV).

About the work permit - did your employer obtain a LMO(Labor Market Opinion) from Service Canada for you? If no, then they should. A positive LMO is required as well as proof that you meet the job requirements(CV/Resume, degree/diploma/certificates, etc) in order for a work permit to be issued. Without it though, you can expect the work permit application to be rejected(at some point).

As my husband is a PhD student at Canada, I applied for open work permit. This could be without LMO.

I will show up at CBSA to show my application copies. Hope the officer will be a good mood that day

The processing time is too long for open work permit, about 80 days.

My bad... a spousal open work permit does not require a LMO.

Hello,

I am in a similar situation. Could you share the phone number that you have called? I need information from them as well. I called the phone number at the back of the page, but it keeps saying, "a large volume of phone call, no staff to answer."

I am a student, and I have little time to delay dealing with this since the school will start soon. My 4th condition says must furnish proof of compliance on 8/31. Thank you.
