Hi everyone, I have some questions regarding proving common law. Is it possible to be approved even if we're just living together less than a year? Let's say it's not continous coz I need to live in the house of my employer coz I'm a live in caregiver but now since feb this year we started living together coz i was laid off from work. We're both work permit holder and he's gonna apply for his BCPNP and he wants me to include on his application as common law. We have lease agreement, joint bank accounts, we added each other as beneficiary on our insurances, support letters from friends, lots of photos with dates and captions, the story of us as cover letter and notarized Statutory declaration of common law. Do you think it would be enough as proof? Any advice from anyone who has on same situation. We have everything but we just started living together last february but on my off days, I always go in their place.Thank you in advance.

We started loving together may 1 2017 til august 2017. Then i need to move to my employer's home september 2017 til january 2018 but I go to there place during my off. And now we started living together again feb 2018 til now.

But you are NOT common law right now. So I don't think it's about having enough proof of something that's not true?

It won't be so hard for CIC to figure out when your current work permit is for live-in caretaker.

From your description, you two will become common law in Feb 2019.

Common-law is a legal status, just like marriage. You are not common-law and if you apply as such, you will be refused. It is like applying as married when you are not actually married.

Either get married or live together for one continuous year to become common-law.
