Hi Guys,

I need some advice on proof for common law.
We have lived in 2 different apartments, since 1st june 2013 until 3rd of june 2014, so that makes a year, on june 3rd I went to Canada and will be returning to her country at the end of july, so I was not with her for 2 months.

I am trying to get testimonials from her family saying that we have lived together, Since we do not have joint lease and the landlord of the first apartment will not make any letter or nothing.
for the second one it will be easier.

Now my questions is;

For the testimonials, what do we write in he letter? the 2 different addresses we have lived in ? should we say from 1st june 2013 till 3june 2014 and again since end of july 2014. or just since 1st 2013 until now we are living together?

Thanks a lot!

Give all the details of the dates you were together the first year and then mention that you were apart and probably say why. Once you have been living together for at least one continuous year, even a breakup would not cause that to end if you got back together again.

Pull together any proof that you can come up with. Do you have any mail addressed to that same address or even receipts of some kind proving that you were living in the same city? All of this could be useful. For testimonials, you want them to say that you were living together and that they believe you really are a genuine couple (if they can say why they believe that, that's even better). You don't want the testimonial to look like it was a form letter that they signed, so it's better if each person writes it in their own words.'

You might want to explain that the landlord refuses to write you a letter. Maybe you can say why?
