Proof of canadian citizenship newborn

Hi there I'm applying for my newborn( proof of citizenship) who was born outside of Canada. When filing out the forms I have one question. It's for question 8b.

This is the question. If the applicants parent was born outside Canada, was one his/her parents(I.e one of the applicants grandparents) a canadian citizen at the time of his/her birth? Would the answer be yes or no?

Background information. The application is for my newborn son. Me his mother is born canadian, and his father is born Scottish. My mother was born in Portugal and became a Canadian citizen, years later. I'm confused where is says was born outside canada. I was born in Canada but his grandmother was a canadian citizen at the time of his birth. Please help me answer this

It sounds like you're talking about Form CIT 0001E. It also sounds like you're saying your husband is not Canadian. In that case, you will be the applicant's "parent" and he will be the "other parent."

This question asks about your parents, but only if you were born outside Canada. Since you were born in Canada, you don't need to answer this question. In any case, the question would have been whether one of your parents was a Canadian citizen at the time of your birth, not your baby's.

Yes that's right, he isn't canadian. That's the thing though, my mom was a canadian citizen at the time of mine and my son birth but the question is if I was born outside canada which I wasnt. That's confusing me

You're only supposed to answer the question if you were born outside Canada.
