Proof of airline tickets and relationship question

Hello everyone, I have a few questions. I am sponsoring a family friend to visit here in Canada for 2 weeks.

1) Does my letter of invitation have to be notarized?

2) For the proof of relationship form, they said they wanted a scan of the back of a passport of the common law or spousal partner. This is not applicable in this case as this is a friend and her mom that im inviting. Should I still scan my own passport for this section?

3) Booking airline tickets will be required to provide proof of the dates of travel but what if the visa is denied... they won't be able to cancel the airline tickets and get their money back. So how can they provide proof but not risk losing money?

Thanks!

No.

You are correct. There is no point in providing your passport copy. But do mention in you letter of invitation clearly the reason on why you are inviting

3) Booking airline tickets will be required to provide proof of the dates of travel but what if the visa is denied... they won't be able to cancel the airline tickets and get their money back. So how can they provide proof but not risk losing money?
Do not book tickets. But in this section, provide detailed travel plan (Day to Day).

Thanks!
Please find my responses in italicized. But I am not an expert, trying to help from my experience. Others may correct or add to what I have said. And you are only supposed to give letter of invitation. The other sections are supposed to be filled by applicant (But you can always help).

For the flight, it's actually easy - go on Expedia and book a fully refundable flight. Once you get your visa, cancel the flight, and purchase a proper one.
