I am appying for the first time for a PR card, I have not left canada in the last 5 years, my passport expired in 2006 and I have just now recieved a new passport, how do I prove I have not left the country in the last 5 years? I had no valid passport between 2006 and 2018.

So when you answer question 21 obviously check NO for any travel in last 5 years and submit your application.

Also check YES for question 23 to give IRCC authority to check your travel history directly with CBSA. Also check YES to question 24 for IRCC to check your tax records if they need to,

Should they come back asking for travel proof you could apply for CBSA travel history yourself through link below

https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/agency-agence/reports-rapports/pia-efvp/atip-aiprp/thr-rav-eng.html

Where people often have issues tends to be the photos so make sure they meet the specification to avoid delays.

I am applying for the first time for a PR card, I still only have my Landing paper from 1987, I wasnt aware of the PR card.
That is kinda weird!! as once you enter the country they ask you for an address to mail you your first PR. Have you been all this time in Canada?!!

Yes all this time in Canada since , this was before photo ID, even a drivers licence was a piece of paper back then.6

PR card was introduced along with the creation of IRPA, and this was back in 2003. OP landed in 1987, there was no such thing as a PR card back then.
