Dear Ievgen,

I just got my file number and now I want to apply for Chemist permit and the first question they are asking is "Do you wish to evaluate yourself qualitatively?"
What does it mean and what to say yes or no?
How much total you paid for the whole process of getting permit.

Please reply soon.
Thank you.

Janki

Thanks my friend. It takes up to 90 days for a review of application. Also, there's no need for comparative evaluation. I can get a license as soon as I arrive to Quebec and pay the enrollment fees. Within two years from now I need to finalize the PR. I hope you'll get yours as fast from order of nursing.
Hi Janki,

Congrats on getting your AOR. When applying to order you first need to create an account and then proceed for adhesion. It's a two step application. I can't remember exactly but such question might appear before submission. Then mark "yes". At the first stage you need to fill out your academic profile. There's no need to indicate all courses and credits taken in electronic application. After that you have to pay the fees (420$) and mail supporting documents. Make sure you notarize them before sending.

Hi Ievgen,

Thanks for your valuable advice. I filled out online form and paid $425. Now I want to know where to send notarized documents?
And do we need to send via ordinary post only? cant we send via courier so they will receive sooner?
I read on its web site that it need to be ordinarily post.

How did you sent?

Janki

Here's the address: http://ocq.qc.ca/rwr/en-ca/Cms/CmsPageTemplates/PageCmsSimpleSplit_d97b3e19-00f0-49fa-b77d-8b2d7974a454.aspx

I sent documents via Fedex courier but regular mail is fine too. When they have a decision on your case you'll be notified by e-mail to verify your mailing address where to send a result. When you receive a letter of eligibility there's another fee for enrollment on a permit. It's around 50$. I asked them if I should enroll right now or wait till I arrive to Quebec, but they don't respond on e-mails for two weeks which is very surprising. Normally they respond within a day. I'll let you know when they reply.

Today I received an e-mail about my request on enrollment.

" Don’t worry, your letter of eligibility will be valid as long as you maintain your competencies in chemistry.
You paid 125 $ for the current letter which covers the enrolment fees for the next 2 years. After two years it means that you will have to pay the regular fees for your enrolment.
Regards! "

It says that actually there's no problem with expiry date on the eligibility letter.

Ievgen i am happy for you. Seems the Ordre des Chimiste de Quebec is very simple and straight forward, and easy to get registered in, Unlike the Ordre des Infirmiers, which requires comparative evaluation, and some other long procedures which might take about a year or two to get someone approved for an exam, before passing it and getting a license!!! You should be lucky to be a chemist.

Thanks my friend. I've applied with my degrees and transcripts, a recommendation letter and a work certificate from the US where I worked as a lab instructor for two years. The requirements for admission to order in terms of academic disciplines required actually makes up only 30-35% of my completed curriculum. That's a general chemistry program that's established in Quebec colleges (3-4 years in length). I can only recommend you to change your occupation and to become a chemist :D

I also wish yours gets approved fast too.
I mailed only BS and MS notarized diplomas with transcripts. In the document requirements it says that a list of courses has to be complete and there was nothing related to course syllabus. My BS transcipt copy was notarized with a translation, and the MS transcript from the US was sealed in an envelope by the issuing school. I heared you have this option in India also. If your school can seal the transcript in an envelope that would be better.

I think you should be fine as transcripts are notarized. Expect your decision within 45-90 working days.

Hello,

Have you checked out the Order website http://www.ocq.qc.ca/rwr/en-ca/Cms/CmsPageTemplates/PageCmsSimpleSplit_d752cc51-246d-4a63-a3a1-51361fe69005.aspx

You must have a minimum of BS degree obtained within the past five years. Also, the curriculum of courses has to roughly match the undergraduate chemistry program as established by colleges/universities in Quebec. Application process is straightforward and takes 1-2 months on average if all the documents are in the proper format.
