In the near future I intend to apply for Permanent Residency through the Canadian Experience Class route. However, conflicting information leaves me uncertain as to how long the process will take;

Unfortunately the forum doesn't allow me to post links but under the CIC webpage headed 'Processing times: Permanent Resident Card' the processing time for a new permanent resident application is currently listed as 67 days. However, on the webpage headed 'Processing times: Permanent Residence — Economic classes' it is listed as 13 months.

Which should I expect?

Many thanks!

The best answer is don't expect anything. Everyone's case is different and your officer might be fast or slow. If you expect anything you might get disappointed if yours is actually longer.

The link and times you checked only apply for Permanent Residence Cards. Not the initial permanent residence application.

Current processing times for CEC posted are 13 months. But it depends on each case. Some are being processed faster, other slower.
13 months is the average.

Well said.

The processing times given in CIC website are average processing times and as Kushari said each case is different. Given the trend it takes around a year.

Regarding posting a link, insert some space in the link, then you would be allowed to post it and forum members are aware of this.

Budget time for at least 14 months.
The 67 days is how long it takes to get the actual card, once your application is approved, you've received confirmation of permananet residence (CoPR) and you have already landed.

What he's saying is that it usually takes about... until they've made a decision. No one knows how long
a individual application takes until a decision has been made. Some get through in 8 months and others take 14 months.

No. I'm saying budget for AT LEAST the average times listed. You may get yours approved in 8 months, like some people here, or it may take you exactly 14 months. For me, I got my passport request EXACTLY 14 months from the day they received my application. Probably a coincidence, but my application was generally simple, my background check took a while. But I feel once they determined eligibility, they just set my application aside. So, my background check may have been completed in a day, but I think the VO just set it aside for a couple of months.

So, in summary, if you have the choice, budget for at least the average times. Then, you may be pleasantly surprised if you get your app approved faster. Or, if yours is taking a little longer, you won't be too disappointed.

What do you mean by 'generally simple'? I'm applying in Sept this year and am the principal and only applicant in my application.
Just trying to figure out how long I'll have to wait for the whole process 8)

Generally simple, as in i was the only applicant, have been in canada since university, never travelled abroad, etc. i got my medical requests 6 months after i applied. but then nothing for the next 8 months. basically, i was told my app was going through the background check. so, my eligibility was assessed, medicals received, and the VO decided to take the app and set it aside for another few months. my background check may have been completed months before i got the PPR. but, i guess the VO put a date on when he/she would next look at my app.

again, i'd say budget for at least the average processing times. better to be pleasantly surprised if it gets processed faster, than to be anxious if yours goes over the times listed.

Cool. Thanks for your reply. I'm in absolutely no rush with my application. My current
WP is still valid until March 2014, I plan on applying for BOWP in December 2013.
So once I get my BOWP approved I can sit back relax and wait :)
I'm the only application too, travelled a bit since I came to Canada, but only to the US.
No other trips.

I was the only applicant, travelled to Home country and US many times. Having a permanent job in a reputed local company. Everything pretty stable and genuine.
Took exact 7 1/2 months to get MR and after Medicals it took full One month till Landing... So total process finished in 8 & 1/2 months (Timelines on Left)
You never know sometimes you become Lucky.. 8)
