It's the same for every application that is sent to sydney, no matter what country the applicant is from.

The time, as it says at the top of the CIC's page, is an average based on how long it took to process 80% of all cases between October 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013.

It is updated every three months and, lately, it keeps increasing everywhere.

So an application can be processed in less or in more time than 11 months. There is nothing you can do to speed things up. After 3-4 months after your file reached sydney, you can ask for your GCMS/ATIP notes (http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/latest-caips-gcms-notes-forms-and-how-to-order-t99210.0.html) and see if someone has done any work on your file. You get the results by email in about 30 days if someone residing in Canada can request them on your behalf through the online app from CIC's website, or 6-8 weeks if you don't have anyone in Canada and need to use an intermediary.

hey thanx... but i guess its a waiting game. My wife said she recieved an email stating CPC has approved for sponsor on her behalf and they have sent our application to Sydney last month October. So its already there at the local processing office. Looking at the spreadsheet, im quiet sure alot of folks are getting there PR in a short time span... I guess it depends. My question is if ECAS states they recieved, the app in September. It means they have prob started the 11 month process rite? or less....

Remember that the CIC website reflects processing times for the previous quarter and that for at least some of that time, the foreign service workers were on strike. It makes sense that the processing times were longer during the strike but are now getting back to "normal." Or at least that's what I keep telling myself. :D

The "Application received" means that CPC Mississauga received the file when you sent it. Usually the VO gets the file in about 3-4 weeks after the Sponsorship Approval. That's when the average 11 months begin.

That's what I've been told at the Embassy before submitting the file.

However, I'd rather believe it's 3-4 weeks and have them get it within 1 week, than believe it's 1 week and have them get the file in 3-4 weeks :))

The times posted on CIC website are NOT "average" times. They are worst case times for 80% of the applications. So if you see 11 months, that means 80% of applications are processed faster than 11 months, and 20% take longer.

The "average" times is closer seen by taking the 50% time of a visa office, which you have to download a special excel document from the data.gc.ca site to find. On last check the 50% time for Sydney was 7 months.

So this is what i got

We received your application for permanent residence on September 19, 2013.

Medical results have been received.

Now, the in process part or file transfered to sydney VO doesnt show on ECAS. Now the Sydney VO recently contacted me via email on NOV 26, 2013 about some stuff I needed to send them back about.. which I did. Now I know that they have received my application in Sydney. But doesn't show on ECAS. Im guessing they probably transfered my file from CPC to VO between october or november.?? im not sure. Its already January so im thinking maybe my file is already at 4 months processing right???

You should look again in that "special excel document". The last update was in november 2013 and the time for 50% of the cases in Sydney is... wait for it... 11 months. So, by your own reasoning, what's the average time for Sydney? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D 8)

You are looking at the "All permanent residents" stat, which include skilled workers, business class, provincial nominess, parents/grandparents, etc.

Go to line 38 - Spouses and Partners, and the 50% time is 7 months.
