I would not hold my breath that the whole citizenship process would take 3 months to complete due to the new changes. I believe the goal of the change is to get it down to within 12 month process from the current 2-3 year process.

Well, when the processing times were say 2 / 2.5 years listed on cic site, there were best case to average cases with processing times of 1 year or so. Deriving the same to the case when the posted processing times down to 12 months, it's not hard to see best cases through 3-6 months.

In fact already it's very visible that many applications are taking 8-9 months window.

You never know what's coming until you see!

I applied in May and wrote the test 2 days ago. So it's possible for the process to take about 3 months.

You were extremely lucky. Hopefully you won't get the dreaded RQ. Also it depends on one's ethnicity and background too.

I would be very happy if the process only take 3-6 months. But I just have to see it to believe it. One of the reasons it is currently taking about 2 -3 years is due to the number of applications being submitted. Due to larger volume of application with a fixed number of manpower, it is expected that the timeline to increase as well.

My theory is since CIC will change their rule not to include pre PR time and also increase the basic residence to be 1460 days the number of people who can apply now will reduce more than 20 to 25%. In this two years CIC will have at least 150000 less applicants assuming 300000/yr now. This will give CIC some more time to process the backlog. Once they are up to speed they can process it within 6 months. 3 Months processing is still a chance for few of the cases. Also getting more judges may not be a scenario whereas if it is COs they can hire some more and train them.

I won't get RQ because the officer told me she had no concerns and will sign off on my file. I don't know whether ethinity or background is a factor though(I doubt it). I think it starts with completing your application properly, giving them everything they need (even those they don't ask for). In my case, I applied with 1097 days and gave them:
1. copies of my boarding passes
2. copies of passports showing original entry to Canada (because I was using pre-pr time and I heard that if the date does not match, they can send RQ)
3. T4 slips for the past 4 yrs (they showed my home address which matched my application too)
4. my job description/duties (this was to show them that my job actually needs me to be there physically. It's a reputable employer too)
5. most recent paystub

At my interview, the officer just checked my stamps and my original entry date. Asked a few questions, wrote a few notes, that was it.

Senorita Bella, congratulation. You are one of the fastest being processed out there. I want to ask you some questions, are you from region North America, like USA or Mexico? Are you working in famous company in Canada that they don't doubt your residency from your employer letter? And did you travel a lot? What makes you think that your application could be processed in full speed? Please share some tips, thank you.

At my interview, the CIC clerk told me that heaps of changes have been raining down on them, lately. One of the newest changes is that a file is apparently closed if an applicant doesn't show up for his oath. Those applicants used to get a second invitation before.

Doesn't seem to be a valid comment from the CO. Oat ceremonies can be rescheduled provided that you demonstrate valid reasons why you cannot attend. Being hospitalized...etc.

I think the CO meant that if you didn't inform them of being unable to attend the oath, they will think you abandoned the process and close the file.

Thanks BLT... On to your questions:
1. Not from North America
2. My employer is one of largest in the city
3. Travelled twice
I don't know CIC's processes so the only tips I have are those already mentioned in my previous post.
